Ok, so yes, this may have been asked before but couldn't find anything when doing a search..

1. Are Bavarian Auto taillights OEM thus the $290 price?

2. Are the Hella taillights just as good as the OEM? The price I found for them is $199.

Anyways, I know Hella makes decent items so is there any reason that I shouldn't buy the Hella brand vs. the more expensive Bavarian Auto brand?

e34 bmw oe tails are made by hella. so the hella's are pretty much the best you can get.

lot of stuff at bavauto is overpriced.

i haven't check circlebmw.com in a LONG time. but they used to have rear tails i think for around $180. you might want to contact them. another to check is pacificbmw.com.

I'm pretty sure BMA had them for less than $180, even.
