Just bought a factory alarm for my 98 M3. I bought it used and the guy who sold it to me dint send the LED adn the wire that connects the LED to the harness comming from the main controler. DO I need this LED to make the who system work? Or can I live without it? I guess the issue here is that is there going to be a circuit open due to the missing LED, thus causing the alarm not to function properly.

If I do need an LED, then doesanyone have any sugesstion about where to get it from. I heard that the Euro led is better looking, but I dont know where to get it from.

ANy help would be appreciated.

Regards

the instructions in the above link only apply to e46's and the majority of that install do not apply to the e36...

no, the LED is not necessary for the alarm to work normally. yes, you will have a connector open but it makes no difference to the alarm. just go to your dealer to get the euro alarm LED. the part number that fits the switch cutouts on e36 m3's is 65 75 8 357 417 and you will need also the contact pins. finally, once you get the euro-LED, you need to open it up, and jump out a resistor from the circuit.

I did this same thing also, and thank Roy Stygar for doing the research and information.
