I am wondering if anybody runs 275/30x18 or 19, and 285 out back. i know Dinan$$$$ have some wheels for my M3 but I want to know if any track guys out there run tires that big and if so what suspension. Of course lightweight is my concern not looks on the track!!

From your profile I'll guess this is for your 05 M3...

Yes, you can do that on just about any of the currently available suspensions for the E46 M3. I can do it easily w/ the Advance Design stuff I have from GC. I can run 285 up front if I really need/want to. Rear ride height is an issue w/ 285's as is front spring perch location. In both cases, at et of ~35 is required for a 9.5" wheel and a small (3 or 5mm) spacer is required w/ some tires becaue their actual width varies.

If you're looking for track wheels, I strongly suggest you take a peek at www.racmonolites.com and check out the RS110. They are spread forged by Champion for RAC just like Champion does for Dinan. They'll clear any BBK you want to run as well and you wont have to worry about bending wheels. The RS110's are about .5lbs heavier than SSR Comp H's in the same size.

That said, unless you've got the car setup to oversteer w/ sways and spring selection, 275's on all 4 corners offers a nice advantage in tire rotation.

Currently they are only available for the E46. If you're interested, RAC will make anything you want if there are 10 sets purchased. That's tough to do sometimes though...finding 10 guys who want the same thing at the same time.

To me, the best part about them is how strong a wheel the spread forging process yeilds. I fear no curbing. I was using the old SSR's. Between the new, heavier SSR Comp-H superceeding the old Comp and SSR filing for bankruptcy protection, it was time to switch.

I believe RAC has access to most anything that Champion builds though, so if you are interested in anything they make, RAC can get it to you at prices that will blow you away. The only wheels you can't get are the vendor specific ones...you can't get Dinan's wheels, for example.

Ohhh, so SSR in Japan is shutting down? Leaving only current stock of SSR - Comps available? Dang, I better not screw up my present set of SSR'!

I am coming to Oklahoma City in June, picking my M 05 in Galvaston.
Thanks for the tire info, you make a good point about running 275 all around!! RAC site was down so I sent them an email. I got the Comp PKg, so I don't know if I will keep the wheels or sell them to somebody that wants the comp CSL wheels. Plus I don't know if I will track the car as often to buy another set of wheels for the track, I would have to run 19" on the track, (don't want to) especially as heavy as the stock wheels are. I don't think I can afford both, hopefully the RAC guy will email me back with prices etc...Then I will see what I can afford, these aftermarket parts are serious dough!!!!

Dave...those RAC wheels on your HP car look great! (you still drive the car on the street??? )...I seriously doubt I'd be able to get 9 others to want the same wheel set as me :( ...however the 17x9" et45 or et42 is a very popular wheel, so RAC should consider making them, especially since SSR is the only main competition at this size.

As for the Champion wheels I could get from RAC...do you have a link I could check out some of those?

thanks man :)
