Why is it that most amp kits come with dist. blocks that go one 4ga in to two 8's out? I know just about everyone does over kill on their wiring, so why not have 4in to two 4's out? I know there are a few $20 to $50 dist. blocks out there, but they don't normally come in the kits I've seen for sale.
The two amp's I'm running are an Audiobahn A2800e (200 watts rms x2 or 560 watts rms bridged), and for my high's/mids, I'm using Blaupunkt MPA 680, which is 60 rms to 4ch.
Now if my ohm load on my subs is cut in half to say 2 ohms, and my amp will do 560 watts rms bridged, most amp kits out there are only 700 watts rms...so this gives me a problem of being over rms wattage by 100 watts.
Any suggestions? I don't really want to blow more money on kits/wires and I don't seem to be getting anywhere. The amp kit I have is made by Scosche -KPA4X2.
Here are the specs the Audiobahn a2800e--
2 x 200 watts RMS
2 x 400 watts maximum power
2 Ohm stable
Regulated power supply
Full mosfet circuitry
Thermal fan cooled
Hipass variable crossover 120 Hz to 750 Hz
Low pass variable crossover 50 Hz to 120 Hz
18dB bass boost
3-way short circuit protection
0.02% T.H.D.
Signal to noise ratio 100dB
------------------------------
Blaupunkt MPA 680
RMS Power at 4 Ohms 55 W x 4
Frequency Response 20 Hz - 50000 Hz
Low - Pass Frequency 50 Hz - 250 Hz
High - Pass Frequency 50 Hz - 500 Hz
Signal to Noise Ratio 90 dB
THD at Rated RMS Power 0.06 %
Should I just run the 4ga from my battery, and just split off with 8ga to each amp? or upgrade the dist. block and run 4ga to my sub amp and 8ga to the Blaupaunkt?
This is in my Jeep Wrangler.
Thanks for the input,
JM
