View Full Version : Question for those with Rogue diff cover

I'll be installing my new diff with the Rogue cover soon. Seems like the instructions say that the sway bar should be installed first.

Is it not posible to remove/re-install a sway bar once the diff with Rogue cover are installed? I'm considering the possibility of stiffer springs with a different sway bar or maybe no sway bar. I'd hate to have to drop the diff just to change the sway bar.

Thanks for your input - Jay

You'll be able to take off the sway bar with the rogue cover in place. It will be tight but it will work. I asked the same question a while ago and was told it would be fine. Good luck Jay.

Oh and another tip. Try and have 2 people help install the diff with the Rogue Cover. The fins are a bitch to deal with since it wont balance on a jack to get into place. Without the help of my dad, I would be singing soprano right now...

I don't have any help. But, I'm going to wimp out and rent a tranny jack. Gunna do the GC adjustable LCAs at the same time.

The 1st time I did my clutch, I pulled the tranny out by hand. Yikes! I'm not as strong as when I was young. Next time....I rented a jack.

Are you gonna have the car on a lift or just on jack stands? I did mine on jack stands and found it easier than when the car is on the lift since you have more leverage with your upper body to lift the diff into place.

If you have after-market sways (RD in particular) put the sways back in AFTER you put the diff. in.

Thats a bad idea. When I installed mine, I put my eibach sway up there and used zip-ties to hold it in place. Once I had the diff in, I had room to cut the zip-ties and attach the 2 rear mounting points on the diff ears and the front diff bolt. If you wait to install the sway, your gonna run into some major headaches. Trust me, I went through it and it sucked the first time.

I had the exact opposite experience with my RD sways, it was impossible to get the differential in with the sway bar installed first. I kept at it for a LONG time figuring if its this hard with the bar on it must be harder with it off. That's probably why it's in the instructions. Is what I kept telling myself. I finally gave up took the swaybar off put the differential in and the sway went in pretty easy.

On my back. On jackstands. Having a lift would be heaven. So would having a place to work on it besides outdoors. But......you do the best with what you got.

As a matter of fact, I do have RD sways. Thanks for the tip.

Either way you might want to give it a shot with sway on first, if you get it on great! If not just take the bar off and the put the diff on. It's easier pulling the sway bar on and off then it is the diff.

I think the RD rear sway and the Eibachs are very similar in diameter and wouldnt make a difference. I didnt "hard" mount my rear sway. I tucked it up pretty high and used zip-ties to hold it in place. This gave me room to get the diff in than mount the sway bar no problem. Try this approach and it should work out. Just make sure you have the rear sway tucked up high enough to maneuver the huge finned cover into place.

you can just run a no-rear bar setup and not have to worry about it :devillook

I've been thinking about it. I'm not sure the Koni SAs would be happy with 700+ lb springs. Already have 650s out back. I need test time. Gotta try some stuff before I start changing everything.

honestly Jay, I really don't think a finned diff cover is a necessity for CR, nice to have maybe, but not needed, our races are just not long enough...

as for suspension, I'm gonna try 800 lbs in the rear with TCKR Koni D/A's and a 15mm bar...stock diff cover.

I found I neeed it Sunir. I dont know if you remember but at Beaverun in July for BFest, my car was spewing fluid everywhere with the stock cover even with a vent line going to a catch can. Once I installed the finned cover, there were no more problems even at Watkins Glen (a high revving track) I run a 3.73 from Blanton with about 60-70% lockup. After a 30-35min session at the Glen, the finned cover was cool enough to touch with my bare hand.

yeah I remmember that test day at Beaverun...you had some diff fluid issues...glad to see you got that all worked out now :)

Remmember at Mostport when my diff was also leaking :help , you went under there and checked it out...I dunno maybe you could be right...seems like temps and track config may have something to do with it...

Yea, I remember it was coming out from the vent hole at the top of your stock cover. I think you said you just replaced the fluid and may have overfilled it. If you did, that was the excess that was leaking out. Hey, ya cant beat the smell of burning diff fluid (mmmm whale sperm :stickoutt )

Well, it's a little too late to change up now. My new diffsonline 3.64LSD with Rogue cover is here waiting to go in.

The reason I got the Rogue cover was to make my new diff run cooler and last longer.
