Hey guys,

Thanks for all your help in prepping my car for club racing thus far. I am in need of some advice yet again as I'm about to order a window net. I have decided that they mesh style net would be better for visibility verses the ribbon style. My question is the size of the net itself, is there any pros and cons of having the smallest legal size net verses a net that covers nearly the whole window opening. BTW this is for an E36 chassis. I don't even want to get into mounting since it's pretty straight forward and there are dozens of ways to do it.

The only thing I can think of is that you might want a space to fit your hand through to communicate with corner workers and/or compeditors. And having the net be the size of the window might be adventageous visibility wise, not having the edges of the net in the way (mesh style net only). Having not done a race yet I just don't know.

TIA

You're really thinking about it that much? It's a window net for petes sake. Pick a color, pick a style, and mount the sucker.

Good lord. At that rate it's gonna take you 30 years to build the dumb car :)

Ya I kind of figured that :lol . I just didn't want to have to replace it down the road bc I got one that didn't work right or I overlooked something.

I made sure mine doesnt block my view of my mirror, that's all.

I use an M&R black mesh net...it comes in a standard size, and I also have it mounted so it's not blocking the mirror and allows me to communicate with corner workers/safety crew. It's got an SFI raiting I think 17.1 or something, look in the rulebook and it'll specify what requirements the net must meet.

Cool man, pretty sure that's the one I'm looking at getting, from Hoerr. SFI 27.1 is the rating and the rules state that the minimum size is 17X21 which seems to be round about the standard size (M&R is 18X22 so it fits the bill).

You see I'm not sure why but seeing my side mirror never crossed my mind, I was so preoccupied with seeing out the window itself. Looks like the angles net is out.

Thanks guys!
