View Full Version : Acura Embarrassed
malibu73 02-23-2005, 04:19 PM There is this guy that goes to my school that drives a riced out acura integra type r or gsr (witch ever is slower. Its got a vtec sticker on the back). I raced him once a few months ago he got beside me and started reving I looked over at him with a thumbs up. He takes off on me, i throw it into 3rd and quickly start to gain on him. Then he hits the breaks and turns off that road. That's cool and all but he starts telling people that he beat me. :confused I never really cared because everybody knows that he lies about stuff like that all the time.
Well today I see him pulling out of the school in front of me so I figure I will mess w/ him. We both pull out (there's moderate traffic) and I'm riding behind him. Well he gives me a break check. Then he gets over into the left lane and I go by him he swerves behind me a gets what looked like 2-3 inches from my bumper. I slow down and he swerves beside me. I down shift to 2nd and pull like hell on him, but have to slow down for a car in front of me. He does a ricer flyby and the cuts across the opposite lane to turn into a street. He was trying to get his back end a little loose and lost control and ended up sideways in the middle of the road. I just honked and waved as I went by. I laughed for about an hour after that. Im looking forward to hearing his story about this one.
Stephen V 02-23-2005, 04:28 PM I love that! What's your car got under the hood? Those GSRs show up pretty decent at the strip if they're driven properly.
biMMMer3 02-23-2005, 04:30 PM I'm glad to see you didn't brake check him back. People like this are a danger to everybody else on the road, and from what you say, if you race him again be careful. Good to see that he didn't hurt anyone and you got a good laugh out of him.
Be sure to tell us his excuse when you find out. And tell him to stop being an idiot and drive like a normal human being.
LeMansGTS 02-23-2005, 04:33 PM did you race in a school zone? :nono

I think it is a Type R Thats the slower out of the two right?

Wrong. The type R is faster with 197hp while the GSR has 170+. I'm not sure on the exact number for the GSR though.
Stephen V 02-23-2005, 04:46 PM That is right, I also don't think the type R is imported here except by people with loadsadough.

Oh shows what I know about imports. Oh yeah all I have is a cold air intake.
Serious 02-23-2005, 05:03 PM type R would smoke U.

Type R's were produced and sold in the US from '97 thru 2001. It's not worth importing a real JDM because the cost to convert it to US spec is rediculous for an extra 3hp (JDM Type R motor is 200hp) and a different front end. You can source parts for the front end for a few G's and bolt everything on yourself. Plus cerain parts in the JDM motor are irreplacable in the states, meaning you have to import them and it's super expensive. I believe a Japanese distributor for the motor is $1K.
The RSX (still called Integra in Japan) Type R isn't imported to the states and if it does, it won't be for a few years.

Good to hear someone with a mild car can beat up on people because they are good drivers! :) I am sure I will find more of your stories in the future interesting!! :D
sachin528 02-23-2005, 05:08 PM FYI.....
The GS-R has a B series 1.8L motor with 170 hp, 131 lb-ft. 8100 Redline, 4 lugs.
The Type R, extremely rare, has the same displacement 1.8L four, with 195 hp, 130 lb. ft., and an 8400 redline. It came in Championship white its first year (98, IIRC) and in Phoenix Yellow and Nighthawk Black in 00-01. The stock wheels were white in 98 and anthracite/graphite in 00-01.
I've met a few Type R owners, and most of 'em have said, if you try to drag these cars, you are asking to be spanked.
The Type Rs were compared to the E36 M3 Lightweights when they came out (philosophy behind them). Probably even better fwd handling car than the Prelude.
The Type Rs are difficult/expensive to mod - similar to the S54 , in that it took a while for FI to come out on the S54 - You can mod the B18C5 but it is really expensive. Most owners do further suspension work.
Fun cars though.

I believe there is a member on the board that has a '97. I've been waiting for him to chime in and help. But everything else you said is dead on.
cosmos4life 02-23-2005, 05:19 PM I have seen posts in the past about these cars best point in addition to handling, being their braking (esp type R's)
can anyone add input?
I wouldn't want to get brake checked by one if this is the case!
BimmerMan20 02-23-2005, 05:20 PM nice run. becareful with those kind of idiots that drive that like that. They can hurt themselves somebody else and even you... so just becareful out there and have fun. No need to race idiots like this guy.

DirtyHarry 02-23-2005, 09:37 PM lol I wasn't sure if it was the girl from the herpes commercial or like a self portrait. Anyways, you have got to LOVE the handling of front wheel drive.
giterdone 02-23-2005, 10:05 PM LOL Good job on beating him, well I guess he really beat himself. But just be careful next to you race him. Obviously he will try to do stupid crap on the highway.
Cosmos4Life, I was confused at first always seeing your avatar, until I read your little Quote underneath it, then i remembered it right away, and cracked up.
