I was driving my buddy's '03 M3 vert: carbon intake, pulleys, AA high flow exhaust. we stop next to a black mustang GT vert. we were like what the hell cause it's been raining on and off all day and this guy had his top open and the car was clean as hell. he had SVT body kit, exhaust, running on 19" rims.
i let the guy jump a couple of times to see if he wants to play and he definitely does. we both stop at a next light and theres nothing but the road for like 2 miles and theres a long curve at the end.
by the end of 1st my bumper was at the door but starting 2nd i started to pull very very slowly. I had about car and a half on him by the end of 4th. i took my foot off the gas cause the curve was approaching but he keeps going. he comes into my lane with about 3 cars ahead. I kicked down to 2nd and follows him. I was inching on him very quick. I stepped on gas 3 times and now im literally touching his rear bumper and blow his doors off coming out.
it was really fun. i gave him a big thumbs up but he didn't even give me a glance. :alright

What body style GT? If it wasn't the new one, you shoudl've been alot quicker than just barely inching. Unless he had alot of mods. Which I wouldn't doubt, GTs are very susceptible to mods and can be made very quick. So maybe you actually ran into a good GT owner, even though he seems like a sore loser. :)
Either way, good Kill man.

You "kicked down to 2"? The way your story is worded, you make it sound like the M3 was an automatic.

I've heard that the newer GT's are pretty fast stock, but I didn't know they were some what of a competition for an E46 M..

220 to the wheels MAYBE. 3,600lbs.. bad gearing. I'm surprised he was anywhere near you.

You made it sound like he was a pretty good challenge. Your wording didn't sound like he was that easy for ya. :)

new gts, are putting 275 to the wheels stock. That is the new GT's, I duno if they are competition, but I was saying, his story made it seem like it was at least hte new one, his story made it sound like the GT stayed halfway close.

Yes, I agree, they were that horrible. That is the 2nd newest body style(99-04). The 3rd newest was 225 at the crank at best. That was the 98 year, 94-97 was 215 at the crank.

It's 215 at the crank for the automatics im pretty sure. The manuals have 225, at least until 95

No. 94-95 were 4.9L (dubbed 5.0) were 215hp at the crank and 288tq. 96-97 were 4.6L and 215hp also. Right aroudn the same tq. The 99-04 GTs did have 260 hp(and 302tq) which is not bad at all, but you have to take weight into consideration. Also they had terrible power loss from crank to wheels.
I'm not sure about he 99-04, but the 94-98 didn't matter if they were manual or automatic.
