As my m5 continues to ravage my wallet, I was wondering if it's a good idea to try to get them covered on my insurance or will it make it go up (already sky high with and m5 and 745) to rediculously.

What mods? The wheels? I'd try to add those wheels, they are just begging for a jacking. Stereo and stuff, bah... Engine stuff? What did you do to the engine?

Those M5s are pretty slow, I'm glad you took some steps to rectify that... ;)

Well I have a bunch of dinan stuff like intake, exhaust, soon to have air mass meters, throttle bodies, suspension, and I want to know that if my car gets wrecked I wont just be out of all the money I spent.

I would pose a hypothetical question to your insurance agent or call another company and see what they say about covering cars with modifications...

There are certainly folks out there who will insure cars based on an agreed value. It's more usual to have that type of policy with an exotic or collector car (say, a Hemi 'Cuda for example) where the "book" value is a joke. But it wouldn't hurt to ask...better safe than sorry. Expect to proove the worth of the car and have receipts for EVERYTHING.

I thought about doing that, I will probably end up calling another allstate agent that's not mine and ask them.

With Allstate, you must get a stated value policy if you want to be sure that stuff is covered. Otherwise, you will have to fight to get that stuff covered with no assurance they will. They are only required to repair back to stock.
This info coming from an agent.

Then, you also have the problem if someone hits you and their insurance is paying, you will have to fight to get all that extra stuff covered. Document everything, pictures etc.

My insurance company denied my claim to replace all of the stolen stereo stuff in my car since it wasn't added to the policy. Only thing they will cover is stuff that was placed in the factory location like my headunit and factory 6-disc changer. I got screwed on everything else. You will have to call your agent and supply receipts and they can add it to teh insurance. It shouldn't go up that much over a full yr.

I also heard somewhere you can have your car appraised, and let the insurance company give you better coverage.

I have thought the same thing, especially with track event driving, and all the mods on my car. Would suck for it to be totalled, and not get your aftermarket parts back.

Lemme know what you find out. I am curious too!
