AE connectors. don't mine me, i have short stubby fingers... which means nothing but short stubby fingers! no relation to any other body part!
Install maybe just the fogs tonight. will post pictures of progress. kinda worried about doing the headlights since i'm NG (no, not my last name but No Good) at doing electrical stuff. me and electricity = not friends. Anyone in north jersey want to help me out? buy you a couple of rounds. thanks!
KaRRiLLioN 02-18-2005, 09:25 PM You have halogen and are converting to Xenon? What year is your car? Oh and how much did those set you back?

yes, i am going from halogen to hid ae's. i have a 98 540i/6 and i'm going to HID ae's and fog lights so they match when i turn the lights on. i got these from Matt at Umnitza for $1000 which included shipping.
here's a picture of the 4 ballasts for the 4 HID's:

KaRRiLLioN 02-19-2005, 03:09 AM Cool, I have a 98 540iA and I want to change the lights. What size are the foglights? Are they the squarish ones or are they smaller and round? Also, do u still have the stock front bumper or did you update that? I'm thinking of changing all of that out but couldn't figure out where to get the parts from.
Is this kit pretty much plug and play and did you have to get the resistors to keep from getting the "check headlight" error message? And the foglights came with the kit? $1k sounds pretty good for all of that.

98's came with the squarish fogs and i didn't update my front bumper since i do like the square bumper plus the round ones are said to be less functional. It's all plug and play and it comes with relays/resistors to make sure i don't get the check light error.
just FYI: all HID's are 6K. i know some prefer the 4200/4300 but i've seen the 4300 and the 6000 next to each other and i can live with the light blue tint. :)
323I Junkie 02-19-2005, 10:17 AM NIce, Im doing the e34 set..I cant see crap at night currently

You are not alone.
323I Junkie 02-19-2005, 12:17 PM It looks like you at least have ellipsoids, I have El Generico's
KaRRiLLioN 02-19-2005, 03:28 PM Have you replaced your taillights and side lights as well? Where is there a FAQ about the differences between 4500K, etc. on these Xenons? I've seen a lot of references but I don't understand...are the higher numbers more bluish? And is it cheaper to go with a higher temp rating or something?
I'm looking on Umnitza.com...where can I find that same package that you got? I've found just the Xenon stuff, but I don't see the foglights.
323I Junkie 02-19-2005, 04:54 PM I want to do it all at once..so Im trying to collect tails and corners
umnitza 02-19-2005, 06:08 PM Thanks Dan:)
The package is under Headlights/E39:)

well natural light is 4200K (kevlin i think.. something to gauge color of light). anythign over that isn't, techinically, as bright. I am replacing the whole front headlight unit which would include the side lights. i will post install part one since i've done that part already but don't have time to do a write up. i did take a lot of pictures though.
now the only problem i have is mounting the ballasts... where the hell am going to put them!?!??? they aren't big but nothing in the area fits... i scratch my balding head on this.
more to come!
grapefury 02-19-2005, 07:13 PM if you're satisfied. hey that's all that matters :)
but as soon as i saw the back of the lights.. it looks like a cheap build version of OEM Hella's.. It's kinda like putting a tank next to a civic and comparing which one looks sturdier..
KaRRiLLioN 02-19-2005, 08:10 PM Ah, so it's measured in Kelvin...I didn't realize that. Makes more sense now.
Are the Hella's the ones that are sold on Bavauto? I noticed the ones they sell there have the clear Euro-corners, but it's $1500 for a pair, and that doesn't include fogs or resistors. I think these that he has look pretty sturdy to me, although I'm no expert. Plus, to get that set for around 1k is great.
I can't tell from your pics, do these have clear corners?

In terms of dollars:
$749 for headlights with our DDE and our Xenons.
$250 ish for HID fogs.
---------------------
1K.
OEM - which we will have in stock on Tuesday
-------------------------------------------
$650 for the headlights, not HID, but OEM angel eyes.
$300 for the Xenon in the headlight.
$250 ish for the HID fogs
----------------------------------------------
1.2K
You don't get our brighter angel eyes - $150 value when pre-installed.
So it's about $350 less to go with this package.
323I Junkie 02-19-2005, 09:09 PM Umnitza---what is your absolutely brightest kit for e34...its kind of confusing?
umnitza 02-19-2005, 09:44 PM Headlights/E34
Do you mean headlights?
323I Junkie 02-19-2005, 09:46 PM yeahy, thats the one..headlights..Im looking at the kit for 550
KaRRiLLioN 02-19-2005, 10:55 PM I did see the HID's under headlights for $749, but where's the actual kit that includes HID fogs and such? I looked under fogs but I didn't see anything about the HID's. I must be overlooking them or something.
Can I get the kit with the 4500K Xenon's or are you saying I'd have to purchase it separately?
I'm very interested in upgrading my 540 within a month or two and your site seems the most reasonably priced I've seen thus far.
Oh and do you have the LED tailight upgrades for E39's? I saw only E46 tails.
Thanks!
umnitza 02-20-2005, 02:59 AM By all means, please email us for extraneous HID upgrades:)
slocar 02-20-2005, 04:11 PM It looks like you at least have ellipsoids, I have El Generico's
My dad's 5er has the el genericos as you like to call them and their light output is better than that of the elipsoids.
323I Junkie 02-20-2005, 05:36 PM hmm
vtbimmer 02-20-2005, 06:21 PM NIce, Im doing the e34 set..I cant see crap at night currently
Ditto, cant wait to order my umnitza's.
slocar 02-20-2005, 07:49 PM hmm
that's what i said first time I drove the one with el-genericos. maybe mine just need to be raised up a bit

stock AE's are actually kinda like piss color. it's got a yellow tint and is a thin ring. here's my recent AE install look. i'm doing a write-up right now.
how stock ones look even on E39's:
http://www.carshine.com.au/Pictures/BMW/BMW%20-%20E36%20Accessories%20-%20Front%20Right%20inpro%20Angel%20Eyes%20(BMW002) .jpg
how Umnitza's AE's look:
http://www.thetkehouse.com/540/umnitza/AE/AE_On_No_Flash.JPG
yes, i know mine is taken at night but still, it's not yellow of anyway. if the first picture was in the dark, the yellow would stand out even more.
so yeah, so Hellas are the stock ones but honestly, i like how the Umnitza's one look. now i need clear side markers or smoked ones to match the front turn signal. it's like you do one mod only to have to do another to match the first.
