Ok, I am trying to complete my clear light conversion, and am a little stumped on the tails....

Ebay has some for 180 and 90 bucks. The ones for 180 are more like euro clears with the second sight of lights having a clear as well.

http://search.ebay.com/e34_Tail-Lights_W0QQcatrefZC12QQfromZR40QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQs acatZ33716QQsojsZ1

Bavauto.com has them for 290.00

Does anyone have any recommendations? Does price matter here? Is there a site I am missing?

Thanks for the help in advance....

all the ones on ebay that look like oem clears are most likely made by depo in taiwan. i think some people here have those, and have not had any problems? if so, i'd just go for the cheapest ones. $90 is a new low for those tails. make sure you compare shipping charges too, as some ebayers really jack up the rate.

if you want the oe ones made by hella, i can supply you the part numbers. they run about $200 a pair.

the crystal styles you see on ebay (not for me), are probably made by in.pro.

82-19-9-404-281 (right rear)

places to check back in the day were circlebmw.com and pacificbmw.com, by calling them. not sure if they stock them any more or what their prices are. you can even probably try bma.

What color is the car you want clear tails on? I made mine black...since I have a black car...used night shades....its a tint spray....makes it look like theyarent there and then when they flash they shine red...its hot...Id post a pic but Im at work...will when I get home

i have the $90 clear tails and the like 13 dollar clear fronts. the only problem with the tails is that when they painted some parts of it, it made it thicker so its much harder to lock in the bulb holder, although now they don't jiggle. but i have been getting a brake light fault. although im pretty sure its just from a broken filiment since i pretty much only get it when i come up my driveway. and the black plug in the center that all the wires connects too comes out really easy since almost no glue is holding it, but that can be re glued (no wires disconnect so not so big a deal).

since there is so little change it can even be hard to spend 90 bucks plus about 20 freaking dollars on average for shipping :S

if i was going to get clears again id go the same route

Thanks for the info and input.

My car is white, and I have allready done clear corners, side markers, flashers, so I wouldn't smoke the tail lights after doing that.

There is a pic of my car in my sig too.....

I will post pics when I get em'!

Thanks again

hmmm. e36's are notorious for having brake light faults with aftermarket tails. not surprised that it would happen on the e34 too.

Those are the $180 ones on ebay... I think they'd look good on an E34.. just a way of freshening up the back end so to speak.

just get euro bumper strips and do away with the sidemarkers altogether.

circlebmw.com sells 'em.... it will cost you like 50-60 if i'm not mistaken. email them, they'll send you part numbers and prices.

I thought the sidemarkers were DOT mandated...do you have to install illuminated fender lights or anything?

Really, really awful.

Aside from being ricey as hell, the red regon on the outer lights doesn't line up with the inner lights - so it looks like even more of a hack job.

forget dot. seriously, if you do it, only the trained eye will know. or if you have two e34's together. looks so stock and clean, imho.

are crystal clears the white lense or do you mean 100% clear and you can see the bulb like on many newer cars, or kinda like that ricy one posted above off ebay?

i too have some issues with the "cheaper" tail lights.

i bought a pair off ebay as well and sometimes either my rear lights or signals stop working. i think it's because they're not really high quality OEM spec lights so the connections sometimes get loose from all the %$#! bumps on the road. i have to get in there and wiggle them around sometimes.

has anyone looked into an LED signal retrofit? if someone could rig up some LEDs that can fit in the stock bulb holder that would be pretty cool.

Hi All,

Would there be interest in a gb for the DEPO Red/Clears?

We could probably do them for $100 shipped if we get 5 participants.

Just some info regarding the Depos that we have noticed:

Fitment is good, no leaks, no condensation, hard to tell its not oem.

The bulb sockets have a little bump at the end to assure they are locked tightly. You may have difficultly locking the sockets in by hand (especially the short ones). Using a set of pliers to turn them only needs little torque and snaps right in real tight.

If you have problems with the wiring, typically just check that the wires coming from the plug are soldered in well, sometimes during install they can be yanked accidentally and lose connection.

Other than that DEPO lights have been real solid, they have passed E-Code requirements, and TUV approved. I would becareful of non-DEPOs though as they typically are not well put together.

If we were to do a GB, it would be through us and as you can see we know the product and can help you get them installed correctly. We'll even do a 30-day return policy, just send them back. Just shipping fees are not refundable.

I've posted a GB feeler in the vendor forums, if interested please respond on the thread:
http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=324565

Even if there is no GB, feel free to ask us about the lights, we're more than happy to share our experience with them.

also...once i smoked it...the "crystal" effect pretty much disappeared and looks like a typical e34 tailight but without the lines that usually divide it into 3 vertical pieces

i care less about them crystal lights..they look too cheesy...them taiwan made tail is borderline for me...i think they somewhat look different that the hellas (or maybe im just bias)...i think the clear part is "too" clear...the hellas are somewhat a "duller" clear than the depo lights...plus the $90 ones on ebay charges $20 for shipping...they told me i can pick them up since they're local but they still want me to pay the $20 shipping...so they're essentially selling it for about $110 or so...
