I don't understand this at all:
A part is a part is a part.
If you are going to buy a part for $1.50, then sell it for $3.00, that makes sense for a markup. Heck, even $4.00 makes sense for a markup.
But, $10.00 does not make sense. %600 markup is just wrong.
I called EB BMW and got a $10 quote on a bulb that Pacific BMW charges $3.30 for and PeterPan charges $4.65. Peter Pan's is ridiculour...but...it's better than $10 in any event. It's just a friggin BULB!
It's the same with Brake Lights - @ EB BMW - $8.69 for a brake light bulb, whereas it's 2.29 at Kragen for 2 bulbs.
