I posted earlier about having valves that wouldn't adjust into spec. I bought oversized eccentrics and was in the process of putting them on when one of my rocker arms BROKE while loosening the eccentric. I think the large gap between the valve and arm must have caused the damage.

Needless to say I need a head rebuild. I was doing some research into parts and the valves change on the 325e after 12/86 and are 2mm larger. These are the exact same valves found on the E30 325i. Does anyone know where the 2mm comes into play? Is it at the top and would they fit on my head? All the other valve hardware is the same, but the head itself is supposedly different.

Also, can I swap with a completely different head like the one on the I??

Does anyone have a head/valves & rockers that would work?

Thanks.

Generally when someone refers to valve size, they are talking about the diameter of the valve head. The 2mm larger valves correspond with 2mm larger valve seats, passageways, etc. The short answer is no, they will not be compatible with your head without considerable machine shop work. The other short answer is yes, it you have enough money!

Good to know, thanks. Any idea if a different year, or even an i, head can be swapped on?
