Yes, but I posted it a bit too fast.
Can I delete this tread/post?

A moderator will move it when they see it, you could PM one of them and let them know you need it moved. ;)

And btw that thing looks sick.

The car look great. Hopefully they have sorked out the aerodynamic pitfalls of last years, and the years before that, cars. :rolleyes

 Such a beautiful car. Looks like they found a nice median inbetween the saber-tooth nose from early last year and the more common nose found on a lot of other cars. I like it a lot.

The new BMW FW27 is a great car that has potential and will take car of business .Hopefully this car will put BMW back on the fast track to overcome Ferrari. It should be battle for all the top teams. I can't wait for Melbourne. :redspot

looks like a great car, but im sure that ferrari has been doing plenty of development too, don't look for it to come easy.

As a lifetime fan of Ferrari, i have been waiting for this dominance to come for many years. i can remember when Ferrari could win about one or two races in a season if they were lucky. I am sure BMW will have their time......but at least not as long as Schumacher is around.

::flamesuit on::
i am not in any way bashing BMW, they are a great marque which i have tremendous respect for.

I don't know.....but I'm certain it ain't cheap. The Williams/BMW season budget runs well into 9-figure teritory. The development & manufacturing costs alone must be quite stagering

BMW/Williams team has spent around 400 Million for each season for the past couple of years. Next year they'll probably spend more. This of course is the total budget and I'm sure between BMW, Williams, HP, Allianz, and Budweiser they all put in their fair share. :)

At least the new FW27 beat the new mclaren MP-20 in the recent test, but was again
overtaken by the old Mclaren, the MP-19/b

It's so hard to tell what's happening with testing though. Teams are running different amounts of fuel, developing tires, trying varying setups, and most importantly, not wanting to give anything away to the competition.

looks nice...i see they didn't completely do away with the "tusk" look. hopefully it will do what it is meant to do this season...

i still don't think it will catch schumi in his red rocket though...

Let's make sure we're taking on Ferrari strongly, and holding off the surging Lucky Strike/BAR.

I thought this year they were switching to V8's? The website says they're using a modified P84. Granted I haven't checked F1 news in a couple months, what did I miss?

bavaria
02-07-2005, 11:03 AM
They are going to use V8s in the 2006 season, but there are some major resistance to this "engine-change" . Among others BMW is a strong opponent to V8, because they already have one of the strongest(perhaps the strongest) V10s.

According to all plans the new V8 rules will be introduced in 2006, so all teams will have to rebuild a new engine...

The tanny, William F1 semi-auto. Is that like an auto with a manumatic shift programming or SMG or straight cut gears? And is there a clutch pedal or is it automatic too?

bavaria
02-07-2005, 02:49 PM
The clutch is automatic(no clutch pedal, as far as I know), and the Williams F1 semi-auto is a program where you can choose between auto or manual, similar to the SMG

I love F1!!! One thing that is very hard to see is the twin keel design has been abandoned this year, thus the change back to the more common looking front wing mount with a single keel. I couldn't figure out why they were so insistant on that twin keel last year? Granted the air going to that portion of the car would be less disturbed but by making that huge front end you're increasing the frontal area anyway and also increasing the weight and reducing the strenth of the lower suspension mounting points...robbing Peter to pay Paul if you ask me.

Oh well...I guess that is why someone else designed this year's car.

Lets go Mark Webber!
