what car is having work done? i know they have some pretty quick honda's. you might have better luck asking that question on hai, seeing more members on that board have honda's and they probably dealt with PFI.

I don't want to post on HAI, most the people over there are bench/magazine racers. :rolleyes

Seth,

My car just been sitting for the last few months, wishing it was turbo'd already.

some of the big mouths there are bench racers. members such as stibungy, hondaghandi and pang actually know what they are talking about. not really trying to defend them over there, just tossing out an option

PFI has the ability to custom burn BMW chips?? Seems odd to me that they would have the BMW specific hardware/software to do that, considering they are mostly an import shop.

You can always do remote chip tuning with AA or NickG. That is what I was going to do with my RMS kit.

Then there is always standalone, which is pricey up front but then basically any tuner can work with you as long as they are familiar with the standalone software you are using.

Who said anything about bmw chips :confused.

Last I heard Tu was after a tec3 or an AEM.

I'm thinking about going with AA as well but they estiamated 10 -12 pulls on a dyno to get the chip right. So add that to the cost of there custom chips and you're talking 1600+ for software. All of a sudden a standalone looks pretty good (price wise).

Well, figured he was getting chip tuning since he said he would have to ship the car to one of the coasts. :dunno

There should be plenty of tuners that can handle a standalone in the area. Might want to check Supraforums to see who they might recommend.

True.

Another option would be to buy a datalogging wideband 02 setup, such as the LM1 or Zietronix and do some pulls on the freeway. Send them the datalogs, along with AFR and they should be able to tune the AFR off of that.

Either way, can't wait to see what the both you guys have up your sleeves. Better be done soon... :alright

Jeff,

Where in Boulder is his shop? Its not the VW shop near Stamler Porsche, is it?

What exactly is an MIPP programmer? I know Jim C. sells some sort of chip tuning hardware/software solution to shops but not many have it.

Also, do you know his dyno rates? Damn dynos are poping up all over the place these days.

To tell you the truth, I dont know much about the specifics. All I know is that having an MIPP programmer allows you to tune BMW's chips (I think this is the same programmer that Dinan, AA, and Jim C use for their software upgrades).

His shop is right off 55th and Arapahoe, right across from Flatirons Golf Course. Call me sometime and we can go over there if you wanna check it out.

As for his rates, theyre $125/hr for dyno time and an additional $75/hr for custom tuning.

Good stuff. Might have to go check that out in the near future.

Any idea what type of dyno it is? Dynojet, mustang, etc?
