View Full Version : BBS RC Size and Color
Philo 01-29-2005, 02:56 AM I'm probably going to get a set of 18" BBS RC's for my '96 M3. How does the BBS "Bright Silver" compare to the silver of the stock BMW double spokes? Some pictures I have seen make me think the RC's are slightly darker...
And while I'm on the topic of BBS RC's... Would 245/35's look too wide for the fronts? Some of the photos I have seen with 245's look like the are wider than the fender. Is this the case and how does it look to you?
Any help/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Philo 01-29-2005, 12:25 PM Anybody? :confused
Bavtech 02-02-2005, 01:23 AM Well I had a couple of 18x8.5 BBS RC wheels at work that came off a total. Thought I would give them a try and they look alright. My car is stock height but the tires are to big on the front. The tire size are 235/40r18.
Bavtech 02-02-2005, 01:25 AM Sorry..here is a couple pics
Still trying to decide if I am going to go with these or not.

Too big on front? Does that mean that they rub, or do they just look too big?
Philo 02-02-2005, 10:44 PM I'm wondering about the looks...
Bavtech - are those 18" or 17"? They look like 17" but it could be the camera angle.
Bavtech 02-03-2005, 02:35 AM Those are 18"...they rub a little bit on full lock of the wheel. The tire on these rims are a 40 series. I pretty sure a 35 series would fit a lot better. I feel they look to big also.
I run 245/35/18s all around on my silver 18x8.5" BBS RCs with stock suspension. They are not too wide for the wheel wells and I have 0 scrubbing even at full lock. They fit perfectly.
I like the silver over the polished RCs. I think they look better.
With 245/35/18s, you don't have much sidewall for protection up front. Luckly, the RCs are very strong rims. I've hit some real big Massachusetts potholes and frost heaves and they are still perfect.

You think 265's could fit in the rear?

with 255s you'll need to roll the fenders but with 265s i think you'll need to start cutting up your fenders.

Zoso, do you have any pics you can share? Thanks!

One of my friends has the RCs in 18 on her car and she has 235s up front and 255s in the back. To my knowledge, her fenders have not been rolled and she has no rubbing on her '03 325i Sport.
IrishTarmac 07-13-2007, 11:55 PM I am in operation of an 05 VW jetta GLI as well, which came stock with BBS RC's and they look incredible, just wish for more of a lip. I took the large center cap assembly off and putt on BBS centercaps from the evo 9 and they look soo much better. I like having the lugs exposed, looks so much better, plus you can't beat the carbon/silver BBS logg. sex, seriously. Try a centercap mod. I think you'll like it. Very motorsport.
