I'm in correspondence with a Londoner regarding buying his US BMW, shipped here to me in Chicago. If we come to an agreement, would someone be willing to check out the paperwork, look at the car, take some pictures, and possibly drive it?
I am not looking for a professional mechanic inspection/assessment, though it would be nice, just prove to me it's drivable and as advertised.
I would, of course, be in your debt, and could PayPal you an hour or two of compensation.

ALTHOUGH, it sounds like a scam from what i have heard so far, why would he have a US BMW in the UK?

To all who responded: IF I get any more info, I'll take one (or more) of you up on a visit to see this car, check its' paperwork, etc.
But, as Rory wrote above, it may be/is looking like a scam. I originally contacted the 'owner' early last week and they responded to my three or four emails in less than a day. They explained they bought the car here, recently got transferred to the UK and took the car with, but now cannot afford to pay the UK duties/taxes... Friday, I asked the owner to fax me a copy of the US paperwork (title or registration) to prove ownership and have gotten no response. Hmmmmm...

Still feel it is a scam unfortunately, more so now as it is a e30 M3. As they are all LHD i would think he would have no problem selling it here, especially at that price. Ask him whereabouts in London the car is?

If the import duties & taxes have not been paid how has he got the car out of customs? I suspect he is either pulling a fast one or is perhaps in the military. Nevere seen a white one before
