View Full Version : So I ended up getting the Michelin Pilot Spts A/S instead of the others for my 01 Spt
stever 01-28-2005, 01:13 AM Thanks for all your info and putting up with my indecisions! I got to Radial Tire and they said the price was $260 and $269 for the rears! I told them that they quoted me around $240 and $260 for the rears over the phone... they said that I must be mistaken... A little while later when it came time to pay, he changed to "a little over cost" of $235 for the fronts and $248 for the rears. Balancing was $39.80 total, $10 for valve stems, and $1.60 for the Md Environmental fee ?!?
Total out the door was $1066 (like the battle of Hastings).
25545R18 Mich Pilot Sport AS ZR 99Y $248 x 2
23550R18 Mich Pilot Sport AS ZR 97Y $235 x 2
Happy with the tires so far though all I did was drive to Ellicott City for dinner and back tonight! They suggested having the wheels aligned so I was recommended to go to Allen Automotive (right around the corner from Radial Tire). Anyone else use them?
I'm glad I got the Michelins. I do drive my car pretty hard, so having the performance edge is pretty important to me. If only it wasn't 15 degrees out... I'd LOVE to wash my filthy car from all the road salt and grime on it. It's truly disgusting... My hose has been frozen for a week now. I'm actually considering a touchless car wash! Maybe warm buckets of water thrown over it and a quick driveway cleaning. The thought of waiting in a long line of cars for 40 minutes to get to use a pressure hose at a car wash is pretty unappealing to me.

About time - as your big brother now - stop complaining about the weather, the car washes, and everything else and just beat the hell out of your e38 like it wa meant (and wants) to be!!!
Congrats on the decision - and have some fun - I sincerely hope it puts your Porsche to shame, one way or another, in the coming months.

Now that the indecision has ceased, tell us how much you love those new sneakers...
stever 01-28-2005, 08:24 AM Thanks guys. I have to tell you, I was surprised how sweet the ride is compared to my bald old Michelins that came with the car. I can be pretty thrifty at times, and love to get the most miles out of a tire as I can. I got the car last year exactly at this time with 14k miles on it, and 10k miles later with the new tires, it feels like a different ride! It's amazing how much new tires will change the feel of the machine. Now I want to eventually spend the $150 per wheel and take it to Euro Pros in Gaithersburg and have them fix the curb rashed rear wheels. Seeing that this is my last BMW for a VERY long time, I want it to be close to perfect.
I guess it's time for that car wash after all... even if it isn't the perfect solution to cleaning it. Anything to get off all this road salt. It's a pig right now. I feel dirty and ashamed driving a sweet machine like this with blackened wheels and encrusted in grime - no sense of pride in ownership :help
Cheers,
Steve

Excellent Choice Steve! You will not be disappointed. Ye Ole Wheels in Elkridge, MD (Route 1) just past route 100 will do repairs for about $110. or less per wheel. They've been around for over 15 years and I highly recommend them. If you don't mind the drive to College Park, there is an excellent drive through touchless wash that does a better than average cleaning of the undercarriage and entire exterior of the vehicle. I don't know about anyone else but touchless to me means absolutely nothing touches your vehicle but high pressure water spray (no cloth or soft brushes). If you are in the Bowie area on Rt 301 there is also a Hydro pressure wash there as well. Used it myself last night and the car came out beautiful. :buttrock
stever 01-28-2005, 11:14 PM Finally got pics: (I know, it's just my stupid wheels and tires - I know...)

Bread 01-30-2005, 10:18 PM Looks sweet. Now I'm just itching to get mine even worse than before. God I hate my tire guy.
Edit: Former tire guy.
