...but since i'm such a newb...i don't know where to look or even exactly what it is...would it be too loud? will it sound like rice? i hear good things like it can free up 15 hp or so....

can anyone help me out? where should i look? how much money will i be looking at? is it something that should only be used at the track and not everyday driving?

A track pipe or pipes are used in place of your cat converter(s). Some guys weld them in, some guys weld flanges and bolt them up. OBD 1 and earlier can use them. OBD2 is a problem since they have an additional O2 sensor downstream of the cat. If that sucker doesn't get hot enough the car will run like shit.

so would i be replacing the cat converter? would that make me fail emissions? if you can't tell...i REALLY don't know what i'm talking about here....so talk as if you're talking to a 5 year old....

Yes - Track pipe will make you fail emissions -

Frank Fahey is making Track pipes again for our M6's - Not cheap - but worth it if'n you want one - His have flanges that you can take on and off without too much welding - to stick the cat back on. I think they even have the O2 sensor Bung.. But am not certain.

I forget his website - But I bet if you google Frank Fahey - It'll pop up.

hmmm so if i put one i'll fail emissions, but are our M6's exempt from emissions b/c of their old age?

do you guys know of any other mods out there that are really worth the money? from some looking around all i can come up with are cam sprocket and chip and track pipe seem to be the only mods that give reasonable gains for the money....

i already have 2 of the 3 and would love to get a pipe...

My 6er is just about done as I'm waiting for my motor mounts to be fabricated. That car will not have a track pipe as I dumped my built M90 euro motor into my 87, so there are some issues with my headers and suspension. The exhaust will just be headers>resonator>muffler and that's it! It'll be pretty loud, but it's built for the track so it should be okay. Yes, the car is a little ass backwards as I have a LJet motor in a car that once had a motronic motor, but the motor came from my old track car and is fresh with maybe 1k on it.
