if so, how did your shop make the muffler? my local shop says that they can do the entire header back exhaust with magnaflow with the exception of the muffler. Id rather have a magnaflow muffler than paying a grand for a name brand, so i'm just curious as to how it could be done... thanks!

Just go to PepBoys and buy two tips, who need mufflers, they just cost more money :D

A friend of mine made this muffler in his garage....it's hard to see the Magnaflow muffler because it's so reflective.

He used stainless steel mandrel bent tubing, a Dynomax bullet and a Magnalflow X-pipe muffler...

TO be honest, I haven't really heard a muffler for the e46 M3 that I realllllly like. Most of them just sound like a fart can and drown out the beautiful notes being produced by the inline 6...I've grown to like the stock muffler...it is kind of unique and sounds very high tech, IMO. A lot of the aftermarket mufflers make the M3 sound similar to a Civic tuner car.
With regards to this muffler, it sounds pretty good but I've only heard a few e46 mufflers in person...Eisenmann Race and the 1st Supersprint. I've heard a bunch of others only through video clips...I would have to say it sounds similar to a lot of the mufflers already out there...I'll probably see my friend in the next few weeks. I'll see if I can shoot a short video clip.

this just seems like a much much more cost effective way to get similar results from a 2000 dollar muffler....

The Euro headers and mid-pipe with the Dinan muffler is the only E46 exhaust sound that I've liked.

Here are some exhaust clips of my BB Triflow w/ no resonators. I had to keep it down a bit because it was late and I didn't want to bother my neighbors, but it's a good idea. It's much deeper sounding, not as high pitched.
