I just bought a 1988 750iL. It is not roadworthy yet, so I can't take it to the dealer. I had the EML computer out, (long story) and now I am getting the EML fault code after starting the car. I have let the car sit with the battery unplugged overnight, but it didn't help. The Bentley manual says I need a diagnostic tool to reset it. Is there another way to reset it without going to the dealer?

I'd think that removing the battery would reset it? Perhaps there is some error that is triggering it the moment that you try to turn it on.

Turns out I missed the part that says you can't touch the accelerator until it warms up. I got it to clear now. Thanks.
