View Full Version : North Eastern E38 Meet and Greet Roll Call For February
The Shadowchaser 01-26-2005, 12:08 PM Guys we need the following:
Time. (Weekends are better, Fri or Sat nights or Sat/Sun afternoons.)
Place. (Open for suggestions, Scenic places may be good for pics.)
Head Count. (If your down, stand up to be counted. These are always a good time.)
Food (What do you want? Lunch, Dinner, Just drinks?)
I smoke cigars as do a few in our local group. Maybe a steakhouse or cigar bar will do. After all they call us the Beef Club for a reason. Feel free to post a followup, all suggestions and comments are welcome.

Justin,
How about "Mahogany" (Holts) in Philthadelphia? They do permit & even sell cigars.
They may even take reservations.

Hey Simeon,
I am definitely down with that. Not far for me and friends have recomended Holts to me on numerous occasions. Whats parking like? I assume we need to park in a garage. I was thinking either that or the Capital Grille if we did a Philly get together. That is unless there are more options that have yet to be presented.
Tranceshark 01-26-2005, 01:25 PM Buhuuuu huuuuu uaaaaaaahhhh!!!!!

Enjoy your meetings....
Auraraptor 01-26-2005, 02:15 PM I'll be down (depending on the weekend, some are busy, most are not).

I am thinking Feb 19th/20th. What do you guys think?
SR740il 01-26-2005, 10:05 PM Count my vote in for cigars and steak (or is that steak and cigars?)
Philly might be a stretch for some of us. Any other possibilities in between PA and NY/CT?
Md750 01-26-2005, 10:24 PM i'm down and if it's planned out far enough i'll plan for it...and bust my a$$ to get my springs and back seat put back together before then!

Roger,
You left a message yesterday on my machine to give you a call, but you did not leave me a number to call you back at. I am in the office most of the day today if you want to call back.
Ken318 01-27-2005, 05:42 PM Hi everyone. I will soon be the proud new owner of a '99 740il. (by this Saturday to be exact). :redspot I would enjoy a good steak and cigar. I've taken the liberty of posting sites that list cigar friendly restaurants in N.J. http://www.cigarfriendly.com/cfrest.htm and http://www.new-jersey.com/magazine/friend.htm. I guess I'll have to change my screen name now. :rolleyes

I'm up for the trip as long as it is not the weekend of 2/12. Any other weekend is good for me.
ericw 01-27-2005, 11:53 PM Cigars? Booze? E-38s? Maybe I'll join you. I need to make a trip to the NY area. Let me know when you're doing your deal & I'll see if I can schedule the trip.
The Shadowchaser 01-28-2005, 01:17 AM I say we do Feb 26 to give everyone adequate time to schedule. I was kickin around the idea of starting in the afternoon somewhere, making a drive, workshop, or tour somewhere and finish out the evening with a steakhouse cigar/bar. I figure we can maximize a Saturday afternoon/evening allowing flexability for the guys that want to do the afternoon and those that want to do an evening. The hard cores like myself will obviously hang for both. some of the guys on Bimmerboard wanted to do Hooters in King of Prussia in the afternoon, but the more I think about it its not really central for MD, CT, NY, DE, & NJ guys. I really think Philly or Somewhere in Mid NJ will be a good place to meet since its in the middle for everyone and both have easy access to highways for arriving and departing. It looks like this is going to be a heII of a meet with alot of guys, so its only fair we do whats in the best interests of all concerned. What do you guys think? Once we firm up we will get a head count and make some reservations.
Bimmerhead 01-28-2005, 07:59 AM Justin,
Feb 26th is a problem for me. The weekend before or after is cool, but the 26th is out because we are hosting a surprize 50th B-day party for a friend.
Perhaps the next one.

Justin,
EIther the 19th or 26th is good for me. Maybe some of the other MD 7'ers would like to meet and caravan up together? Once we firm up a date, I will see how many would be interested on the other boards in driving up.
Tranceshark 01-28-2005, 10:07 AM Guys!
I hope you'll have tons of Fun on the Meet!
Smoke a good Cuban for me, will ya?
Greetings from your J6 Chief COMMS OPS, HQ KFOR, FILM CITY, Pristina, KOSOVO.
The Shadowchaser 01-28-2005, 01:40 PM Ok how about March 5th? Its a Saturday and should be plenty of advance notice for all coming. Alot of us will have some extra mods on by then and the weather should only get better. 3/5 has got my vote. All in favor?

Bimmerhead 01-28-2005, 03:31 PM Werd!
I'm free then!
FYIW,
The King of Prussia idea sounds good.
There is a HOOters there and also a Ruth's Chris...offering an option for early dinner for the serious beef lovers among us...
Now what would be really REALLY extra special would be if The Mike D. :pimpflash himself :eek2 were to condescend and grace us with his presence. :redspot
Let's get bizzy(sp?)
:D
Auraraptor 01-28-2005, 06:21 PM Duane, i'm down with caravaning up there too

The Shadowchaser 01-28-2005, 09:19 PM Alright, looks like we have a winner. I will post the names in this reply and update it for a quick view each time someone joins in. I think maybe we should do Weehawkin, NJ again for a central location. Between CT and MD it is closest to the middle and only fair for everyone. Plenty to do there as well and a large selection of possible eating, drinking, and cigar smoking establishments. Weehawkin has a Houlihans, Ruth Chris Steakhouse, a Chart House, very ample parking for some nice shots with the NYC skyline background, and depending on the crazys I here theres a good cigar place just a few miles down the road in Manhattan. The name escapes me right now. Hoboken is also down the road with a great steakhouse called Arthurs and there are plenty of bars down there too. Seacaucus is the next town over and has a Bazookas which is similiar to a Hooters. If you guys are set on Hooters I will try to find one close by. We could also start the afternoon at Houlihans as well. The area has some very good eye candy (of the female persuasion) and offers us alot without driving around alot.
Again check here again for confirmations of who is attending as this will update as you reply. Names taken from RF, BF, & BB. Please provide your 1st name as well.

I hope we can break 20 guys, there should be enough time for it, and we have to show the west coast guys they are not the only ones that can get that many E38's together in one place. ;)

I agree, It is always a great time when we get to socialize together. It gives us a chance to put the names to the faces and see what everybody does to personalize their E38s. Its great to get the creative juices flowing for modding your car, and the company can't be beat. :buttrock

Justin,
Have you called Rob Levinson? Weehawken is in his neck of the woods and I'd like to hear that exhaust system he built for his 750. Perhaps he can roll the "Project X" car out for this soiree and sort of make it a UUC Event. Most of the attendees are interested in E38 mods so this get together could be ideal for him.

Ken318 01-30-2005, 11:18 PM Sorry guys, the first weekend in March is no good for me. I have a ski trip planned in VT. It will be my first long distance cruise in my "new" car. Hopefully I'll catch the next one. Have a great time.

Okay then, March 5th in Weehawkin is a go. Great pick Justin. We should also establish a rain date as well as a common communication medium should anything change between now and that meeting time. As the date moves closer I'll organize a rendezvous location for MD/DC/VA who want to caravan up together. I'll be sure to have my Digicam mounted for the trip to take plenty of pics. Hopefully all this snow mess will be pretty much over by then.
Strahan 01-31-2005, 08:30 AM If you don't mind a non-owner tagging along I'd like to attend and surround myself with E38 goodness :)

I though about delaying my trip to Dallas (for about 1 micro sec) I will be in Dallas. Actually they are planning a meet aeound the end of Feb, so I should be there for their meet instead. I hope you guys have a good turn out and I will be thinking about ya'll instead. :alright

Duane,
If you guys are caravaning up, maybe one of you can give me a shout as you enter NJ and we will join your caravan with the S NJ and Philly guys at one of the rest stops (maybe the one just past Exit 4 northbound). I am giddy with excitement at seeing almost 20 E38s flying up the NJ Turnpike toward our destination. That has got to be fearsome looking in some nonsuspecting NJ drivers rearview mirror. :evil2  :help :D
Bimmerhead 02-01-2005, 08:18 AM Anyone heard from Rob Levinson?

Great Idea! Maybe a call as we are nearing the Deleware Bridge so we can link up at the first or second rest stop on the Turnpike. Once all the meet times are in I can calculate how long it will take us to get there using a good starting time. It will be an awsome site to see us all rolling together! :redspot

Convoy?? :confused
Well, I :dunno
According to the song, a convoy has to have "11 Long Haired Friends of Jesus in a chartruese micro-bus" to qualify as an "Official Convoy" ...
And surely, we can do without "bears as thick as bugs on a bumper" for this road trip.

Bimmerhead 02-03-2005, 05:50 AM Gentlemen,
Late yesterday afternoon I received word yesterday that my Company is sending me to "O"town for a week in early March.
A nationwide client is having it's national franchisee sale meeting and golf soiree so I'm hauling the clubs to Florida.
Seeing as my family is in Orlando the plan is to hang out in Orlando for a few "daze" before the business portion of the trip commences on Tuesday the 8th of March.
Accordingly, I won't be able to hang out in Weehawken, NJ on the 5th. :(
Perhaps the next one!
Regards,

Bimmerhead 02-03-2005, 01:15 PM Saturdays can be a real bitch for me BC of work... but if it's a Sunday or certain weeknights I can do it.
Yeah,
Im back up here for the time being.
WTF
No "O"town in early march???
No nekkid women in Lauderdale??
Wiseguy ON 02-03-2005, 02:13 PM Gimme warning and I see what I can do Sire...
How long to confirm? I have to come to Philly regularly for business, I'll see if I can arrange a few meetings on the week previous. It's a short 5 hour drive for me. Steak and Cigar sound great to me! Deadline on confirmation???
The Shadowchaser 02-03-2005, 06:22 PM Gentlemen,
Late yesterday afternoon I received word yesterday that my Company is sending me to "O"town for a week in early March.
Regards,
Bummer for us. Hope you have a good time though. :buttrock
March 5th in NJ is looking like a "GO" for me. :alright
Cool, updated the list for you.
Saturdays can be a real bitch for me BC of work... but if it's a Sunday or certain weeknights I can do it.
Yeah,
Im back up here for the time being.
Bill, Good to see you back. This thing is lasting noon to the early hours of the next morning. Catch up with us later in the day. We have not hung since LaStalla, and I remember the pisser of a time we had. Hope you catch up for some more hijinks. ;)
Shit, I just realized that March 5th is a sat. I can't do it. Gotta work on saturdays :(
Like I said above Tony, the fun should be going on well into the PM hours. Swing over after work.

That would be cool. Give me at least a week and a half notice. I want to make sure we get seated when we actually get a fixed number together so we can lock down on a restaraunt.
Strahan 02-03-2005, 06:24 PM 6. Strahan - name? (confirmed)
I'm Ken, btw :)
SR740il 02-04-2005, 10:20 AM Justin,
I regret that March 5th is now a "no go" for me as well. Please keep us posted on the results of this meet and any plans for a future meet.
Thanks!
Steve
Transporter 02-04-2005, 12:10 PM I will go if it's closer to Philadelphia. My number 1 location would be King of Prussia- Hooters, Ruths Chris, Mortons, Sullivans. If it's not too far from Philly, I'll be there. ~Greg
Sorry I've been way off the map for a while. I'm single now. Gotta get back out there.
tkasser 02-22-2005, 11:30 AM Man, I really wish I could go, but I don't get off of work until 5. Then it would take me about an hour and a half to get up there. How long do you think you guys will be hanging out?
Is there a final Date/Time/Place on this? Planning...for a drive to Philly
khajdiddy 02-22-2005, 03:13 PM oh yea any new info on the spot would be great

Very cool Bill. Im scared to even ask wher to find ya. :D
The Shadowchaser 02-23-2005, 10:20 PM Guys,
:help Would anyone consider pushing out the date? My car is still at the mechanics awaiting the engine transplant. I have an 4.4L V8 M62 shipping on Friday and the motor work should be done by next Friday. My biggest reason for wanting to push the date out is to get the M7 kit on the car since I know a few of the guys are coming up mainly to see it. The bumpers will be painted while my car is undergoing the transplant so no time is wasted. I was thinking of doing this a little later in March. Maybe this will work better for the others who had trouble with the 5th anyway. Let me know. I just hate to setup an E38 meet and not be able to "represent". :(
Wiseguy ON 02-23-2005, 10:22 PM Yeah but what if there's gonna be chicks there?
The Shadowchaser 02-23-2005, 10:30 PM Yeah but what if there's gonna be chicks there?
Good question, but I think that will not be a problem either way. Besides I am going to look real cool hangin out lookin like a wannabe or riding shotgun with someone. :rolleyes If chicks are on the menu I want to enjoy myself like I did that night at LaStalla. ;) :devillook That is in my own 7. :buttrock
Wiseguy ON 02-23-2005, 10:50 PM Roffle!
Well then. I make deal with you. If you have car fixed by Friday, this saturday maybe I can help you install teh bumpers.
Then you can come to Eat, drink heavily, be merry, chase women, listen to me say ruide things, etc...
Auraraptor 02-24-2005, 12:07 AM What is the current time/place for this? I need to know as I have really busy Saturdays all March.

well, it's pointless for me to come until you get the bumpers put on. so my vote is to move the date...it still may be snowy and crap on the 5th and that's no fun

I sure hope we can "push" the date. That might get Sim and others back on the list.
tkasser 02-26-2005, 08:37 AM April should be better. At least then I'll have the snow tires off and hopefully the stereo will be done.
Md750 02-28-2005, 12:40 AM when is the damn thing already!?
The Shadowchaser 03-01-2005, 10:31 PM Snow is being predicted for the upcoming weekend so I imagine this meet will be postponed until better weather can be had. I will repost to this thread to update everyone on when the rescheduled meet will commence. :)
TitaniumSeeker 03-01-2005, 11:28 PM Good, Gives me more time to get more stuff done. Besides, the weather has been really nasty lately. My vote is for mid or late April. We might be able to get more folks to drive up from MD then.
