OK, I searched and searched and couldnt find an answer. I am in need of a MAF Sensor. The cheapest I found is $287 for a BRAND NEW BOSCH. Anyway to clean the MAF? If not, anyone know of a place to find it cheaper?

Well...

I just have one idea, and that would be upgrading your MAF to a High-Flow Version along with a CAI...

That is one good reason to do so...

Anyway to clean the MAF SENSOR? Should I use brake cleaner or what? I checked google and I cant find anything under $250.

I wouldn't use brake cleaner but you can try electrical contact cleaner.

Yes the $130 is for the 99+. You must have an earlier model.

I am trying to get the part # for the 95 740I. Looking at this, I think this will work for the 95 and I think that might be the part #, can someone verify?

and its actually an EXCELLENT PRICE

I'll be damned if I can find a cross reference between the OE part number (13 62 1 702 078) and the Bosch # listed on the auction (0 280 217 800).

Looking it up on Worldpac's system, they list P/N B3130-51367 looking like

Confused yet?

Yeah, I know.

I'd be inclined to contact the seller to confirm fitment.
That's about as far as I can take it..... and I've got a '95 as well so I was going along to see what I could find out. Not much I guess.

good luck

Have you tried cleaning it? I just got a remanufactured one for my wife's Explorer without first pulling the old one and dusting it off. My OBD code puller identified the MAF as the likely culprit of its poor performance issues. When I pulled off the old one man was it sooty. :embarrasm I should have tried cleaning it before buying another one.

I put in the one I just paid for since I had it and it was only $75. I'm pretty sure that if I just take a rag and wipe down the wire grid the darn thing will be OK. This weekend I'll stick it back in to see if my theory is correct.

Anyway, I suggest you get a soft cloth and gently wipe the wire grid. You might even try a cotton swab. I would be careful about using spray cleaners. Some MAF sensors have coatings on the inside of the tube that might be damaged.

Good luck.

You can try carb cleaner. I've read that this helps usually for oil contamination from an aftermarket air filter, but i think it may help for general dirt. Also if it doesn't help, make sure there is not a vacuum leak. I replaced maf, 2 o2 sensors, plugs and plug wires, air intake system all to no avail. A vacuum leak can be intermittent, and can appear as many different problems.

I had trouble finding an MAF, and ended up spending $297 at bavauto.

good luck
