Spill the beans...who were the BMWCCA winners?
|
View Full Version : What, no winterfest report? krisko 01-24-2005, 10:29 PM Spill the beans...who were the BMWCCA winners? qwickm3 01-24-2005, 10:36 PM I know Jimmy baker won C mod twice. The Watts car was involved in an accident and went home early the first day I think. Paul Hamm had trouble on the firsta day and eventually lost a motor. Sean T. won IP twice. Randy Mueller was fast but had head head gasket problems the first day and failed to put enough fuel in for the other race handind Sean the win on the last lap :( I know Will Scott also had issues this weekend. Thats about all I know. I'm sure others will chime in with the details. krisko 01-24-2005, 10:39 PM Doh! Hate to hear about the Watts car...they were looking forward to Sebring. Congrats to Sean for the IP wins but I'm sure they are a little bittersweet with Paul's issues. How did Len Meuller do...I hear he's pretty quick around Sebring. Was the Watts incident multi-car? sunir 01-24-2005, 10:50 PM whoa  hope it's not too bad with the Watts car! Man that thing is all custom panels and fabricated...wish them the best in getting everything back together again and a speedy return to the track :) seems like the others had some issues but it's early in the year so it gives them time to sort things out, I guess if your gonna have problems may as well have them early enough to get it fixed/solved...looks like a lot of folks were sidelined :( ...congrats to Sean T and Jimmy Baker on the IP & CM sweeps... qwickm3 01-24-2005, 10:50 PM I think you mean Randy Mueller. Don't think Len Muealler was there. And if you did mean Randy check the above post krisko 01-24-2005, 10:56 PM I meant Len, unless he backed out at the very last second. We had some back and forth (via email) going just before the event. I was looking forward to racing against him but, well, you know what happened. Woe was me...just picked up the car tonite. :D sunir 01-24-2005, 11:00 PM ...just picked up the car tonite. :D dems sound like fightin' words :devillook ...watch out! :) ...j/k jus bustin chops ;) :D ...Krisko we joke around a lot in the forums, lookin' forward to meetin' ya sometime this season my man! krisko 01-24-2005, 11:02 PM Come on up to VIR with NASA...aren't you real close by Sunir? The track time is cheap so even if you aren't serious about NASA racing you can use it as a test n tune or just to keep the skills sharp. Damion, how about VIR in Feb? qwickm3 01-24-2005, 11:03 PM Not worried about Krisko. He's coing to need more than a 50 hp advantage to beat me. :alright Bring it! qwickm3 01-24-2005, 11:04 PM My weekends are limited this year so they will all be BMWCCA races this year. CMP in Feb. VIR in April, RA in July, bank to VIR for Ofest and Roebling in Dec. Thats all I can do this year. krisko 01-24-2005, 11:13 PM Not worried about Krisko. Easy big fella or I might spring for a set of HooHoos at CMP. I don't know who you've been talking to but it's not a 50hp jump...I did get a nice boost in torque since my Vanos is actually working now. Do you have a mole at Sunbelt? :devillook I think with 50hp and Hoosiers I still wouldn't have anything for you at CMP. I'm going bonkers with my race schedule, at least early in the year. I told the wife to freakin' lay off for a couple of months. I'm doing VIR (NASA) in Feb, CMP in Feb, Lowes (NASA) March 4-5, Road Atlanta (NASA) Mar. 19/20 and I'll either do MidOhio April 1-3 or the VIR race. I'd like to run with Mr. and Mrs. Hamm (or is that Tillinghast?) so I'll find out where they're racing in April. Things will slow way down for me in summer, prolly just the BMW Road Atlanta race. Then I'll step it up again in the fall. qwickm3 01-24-2005, 11:17 PM we've already decided April VIR is going to be the shootout at the OK corral. Me, Randy, Paul,Sean,Gilbert hopefully, Rick hopefully, Tony Hugginnsand a couple of more. should easily have 10 IP cars krisko 01-24-2005, 11:22 PM we've already decided April VIR is going to be the shootout at the OK corral. Me, Randy, Paul,Sean,Gilbert hopefully, Rick hopefully, Tony Hugginnsand a couple of more. should easily have 10 IP cars I think I'm heading up to VIR then. Rock on brother. :buttrock sunir 01-24-2005, 11:26 PM we've already decided April VIR is going to be the shootout at the OK corral. Me, Randy, Paul,Sean,Gilbert hopefully, Rick hopefully, Tony Hugginnsand a couple of more. should easily have 10 IP cars  whoa that's an IP cluster fcuk! hahaha can't wait for T1! think there'll be at least a handful of HP guys there also?... I hope to make it out...Damion, this is the same race we met up at VIR last season, my first race, the one in the middle of April, right? krisko 01-24-2005, 11:49 PM Should be fun...Sunir, if you add 250 lbs to your car you can be an honorary IP racer for the weekend. mlytle 01-24-2005, 11:49 PM ahh, the heck with the ip cluster at vir in april....who is joining me for the its, er, jp rumble at vir????? ;) marshall sunir 01-25-2005, 12:05 AM Should be fun...Sunir, if you add 250 lbs to your car you can be an honorary IP racer for the weekend. my car is allowed to be 2832 with driver...you guys in IP have to be at 3048 right? not quite 250lbs ;) ...even though I doubt anyone is exactly at the limit at any given time depending on fuel load, lead ballast, etc...most racers probably err on the side of caution so they are heavier than the allowable mark... B.Watts 01-25-2005, 01:15 AM No multiple car incidents here...just one pissed off driver and two mangled bumpers. After we stopped breaking suspension components on Thursday (thanks to RRT for a quick shipment of upgraded parts to test for them), we got the car together for qualifying on Friday. I had very limited time on track but still managed to get into the 19's, which was faster than my last time at Sebring. Lots of incidents in qualifying led to black flags...after the final black, I went out on track for one more hot lap hoping to drop a couple more seconds only to end up behind two Legends cars who overslowed by about 30 mph for T2. I wasn't ready, so I bailed to the right and off the track, just nudging into the tire wall enough to break the fiberglass on the front bumper and rip up the splitter. Put the backup bumper and splitter on for the race where I was battling much more powerful Porsche GT3 Cup cars and a PTG M3...beating them in the corners only to be outdragged on all of the straights around Sebring. After things strung out a bit we came up on some traffic. A 944 pulls out to make a pass on an E30 and I tuck in behind the follow...he obviously never saw me coming because just as quickly as he went for the pass he decided against it, locking down the brakes to fall back in line behind the E30. Once again, I bailed off the track at fairly high speed with plenty of runoff room...just as the curb ends and I'm about to blend back onto the track to continue, I realize there's about a 1 foot deep hole. The splitter digs in, destroying the backup bumper. 90 cars was simply too many on the track. Not enough mirror watching. In the end, I guess things are my fault as I'm the one trying to complete the pass...but I prefer to blame the morons who made unpredictable moves in front of me. ;) I had actually toned down my aggressiveness for the weekend in expectation of lots of unpredictable moves. It was just one of those weekends where luck wasn't on my side. Unfortunately my dad now starts the year way in the hole for CMod points since we didn't have any more bumpers for the sprint races on the weekend. Baker got a nice head start that we'll have to work hard to make up. sunir 01-25-2005, 01:52 AM No multiple car incidents here...just one pissed off driver and two mangled bumpers. Hopefully team Watts will be back in rare form stomping the field once again in the next SA region race weekend... krisko 01-25-2005, 04:40 AM Tough breaks Bryan...when I heard you had an incident I wondered if a Legends cars was involved somehow. Good luck with it, we'll see you at CMP. ceegeezM3 01-25-2005, 11:20 AM Sorry to hear that Bryan. I was really looking forward to some video too. :( We've already decided April VIR is going to be the shootout at the OK corral. Hmmmm, I might want to rethink my schedule..... krisko 01-25-2005, 11:21 AM In the end, I guess things are my fault as I'm the one trying to complete the pass... Bryan, Did you get a talking to after the second incident? It seems to me like you did the right thing in trying to avoid contact, and you can't be blamed for a deep hole just off the track. I like most of the guys in PBOC, just curious if they gave you a hard time. B.Watts 01-25-2005, 11:32 AM I didn't get a talking to. I looked for Bud to explain the situation but never could find him. Since I didn't actually hit anything and simply went 4 wheels off, I didn't think it should be that big of a deal. rmm3 01-25-2005, 11:49 AM I will be at VIR with you guys for the club race...SCCA in feb at RA will be my first race of 2005. I will be racing once or twice a month this year. BMWCCA, NASA, SCCA and PBOC What ever is close by probably?? I hear that sunbelt motor is puttin out some ponies?? Steve J. 01-25-2005, 01:19 PM Anyone have vids...bry any incar? B.Watts 01-25-2005, 01:22 PM Yeah, I've got a little bit before my off...just haven't had the time to put it up. I was out of town in London for a week, only to return and go straight to Sebring, so I'm way behind at work. Hope to get something up later this week. |
