View Full Version : new guy with '82 633csi
project633 01-23-2005, 12:21 PM I could use some help locating certain items, namely front and rear gaskets for the glass, as they are being removed for paint job. Just finished the brakes including master cylinder, calipers, braided lines etc. Car has been lowered properly with spring kit and correct bilsteins, 17" BBS wheels. I'm and old guy and learned the hardway to make sure you can turn AND stop before worrying about how fast you can go.
Motor is healthy but could use some more go power, can the chip in and '82 be replaced or reprogramed? Is there an aftermarket air intake system or will a K&N filter suffice?
By the way I bought this one owner, southern CA, 102,000 mile, NO rust or body filler car on e-bay. I bid $1900 and a week later found myself an owner.
Any suggestions on how to improve this already great car would be appreciated.
Ol'6erGuy 02-11-2005, 10:19 PM Cool! Another new guy. I just regestered. I am trying to get a 1980 635csi, euro going again, maybe we can find out some of this stuff together.

Ah, another euro 6er! Good to have you on the board. What are you doing to the six? Are you restoring it? Do you have pictures? :devillook
dm635 02-12-2005, 10:49 AM welcome.i'm fairly new here myself.i aquired a RED 85 and within a month a white one was found.either one is a rolling restoration.i plan on one of them being my last 2nd car.wife says "yeah right".cant beat the lines.trying to sell the red one cheaply to aquire the white one.
mysexy6 02-12-2005, 11:30 AM I have had my 84' 635csi only a couple of months and going through the wallet opening breaking in period! LOL
My driveshaft snapped at the rear uni the other day. Was lucky I was only going 40 km/hr but still made a hell of a noise!
Have an M535i wreck I am still paying off before picking up so will have tonnes of spares.
I would be keen to exchange experiences with others that have done up or are planning on doing up a 6 series as I am going to be trying to do as much as possible myself :cool
Ol'6erGuy 02-12-2005, 01:18 PM I got the car about 3yrs. ago. It need some serious engine work. The things I don't like about it are the interior (tan) and it has an automatic. I found a wreck that I'm trying to get that has a good engine, 5speed and black interior. Hope to get started soon.
Auraraptor 02-12-2005, 02:16 PM have an 82 as well. May I ask where you sourced your lowering kit? I would love to lower my car a bit. :help :help I
Ol'6erGuy 02-12-2005, 04:19 PM Actually, I haven't lowered it. What you see is the way I bought it. Check out: bavauto.com. I have bought a lot of stuff from them over the years, they know their stuff and will help you even if you don't buy. I would suggest that if you do lower, buy the camber kits as well that way your wheel geometry stays correct. This car is actually a 1980 635csi euro version.
dm635 02-13-2005, 10:10 AM my 85 came to me already lowered with HR springs.front camber looks good but the back has some neg camber.handles nicely.
Mine has H&R springs also, with Koni fronts, and Bilstein rear shocks. I got everything from TC Kline.
Auraraptor 02-13-2005, 12:27 PM I thought H&R didn't make springs for 33's and only for 83 or 84+ cars. :95
I will call TC Kline on monday.
project633 02-16-2005, 07:45 AM I will try to get some pics out tonite. ALL trim is off interior is completely removed getting ready for paint. by the way where can I get carpet, all the ones i see say the new must be installed over the old..thats bull $hit.

Sorry, the 633 in my profile is a parts car. I have an '85 635.
On that note if any of you need hard parts off the 633 let me know, as soon as it warms up I will be sending it to the wrecker.

How is it's dash and how are its springs? I really want to get a hold of OE springs for a good price. PM if you want.

The dash has some cracks in it. All of the wear parts are worn. Springs are shortened.

The car on the left.
project633 02-16-2005, 09:10 PM bumper parts..the ones with the side lights? Scratched or gouged is ok but one of mine is "wrinkled" like it got hot.
They are no good, warped and rusty.
project633 02-16-2005, 09:33 PM Is that tan interior with the big seats?
didzhej 02-17-2005, 03:33 PM I have had my 84' 635csi
This looks like mine first 6-er!!! Nostalgy
Is that tan interior with the big seats?
Yes, but the seats are useless, unless you just need frames. The rest of the interior is intact (except the speaker pods, im pulling those for me).
