das, any headway on rescheduling the meet, or are we just gonna have to do a smaller one of our own, etc???

I can't make any weekend in July, das is out for June, in August I'm available 8/3 and 8/24.

Others?

Dark Helmet
05-07-2002, 12:33 PM
the improtant people are BC, Willy (I gotta see that car), you, phil, me, and any other Z3s in the area... If the 23/4 works for phil, lets do that.

SilverStreak
05-07-2002, 12:36 PM
23/4??

But Bimmer fest is in June, Willy and a bunch of other guys will be there. I remember one h=guy had a an e36 m3 and said that by this year he would be pushing 500HP. they have some sick cars therte.

Stylin
05-07-2002, 06:13 PM
You guys should really come up for Bimmerfest!! That would be pretty damn cool and u guys would get to see a TON of nice BMWs.

But pretty much any date is cool with me as long as its a Saturday coz I work Sundays. I dont have anything planned that far ahead..:D

I didn't mean to screw things up, maybe we can do 2 meets, and people make the one that best suits their schedules, and maybe some lucky folks make both???? Just thinking out loud...

Dark Helmet

I wonder what size DRs we could stuff under the M's fenders???

BFG has a 315/35-17... :evil2

SilverStreak
05-18-2002, 05:52 PM
Yeah, but with 35 series tires, very little if any sidewall flex. I get a teeny bit with mine, but still not enough, if you ask me....

Also, 315's require at least a 10.5" rim width, I believe... rukman could answer better on that one than me...

What I really need is a 15" wheel to fit over my rear brakes and get me some 275-50-15 BFG DR's out back, then I'd have some more sidewall flex and be seeing 1.5x 60' times, and maybe a solid 11.5.... :evil2

Dark Helmet
05-20-2002, 01:13 AM
dave, I think you can even get 315/60-15s now... I'm guessing they might rub though.

16s would fit the car, but n o one makes a wide 16-inch DR... I think the Nitto 245/50s I'm looking at are the biggest out there.

SilverStreak
05-20-2002, 09:40 AM
If I replace the drag radials with anything else, I'd go to the smallest wheel possible (16", you say?) and go with a set of ET Streets... I'd have to find the right measurements that would fit my car, which could be tricky...

Dark Helmet
05-20-2002, 02:59 PM
I'll sell you my wheels?????? :D :D :D :D

SilverStreak
05-20-2002, 05:13 PM

SilverStreak

"If", that's a big IF... :) It's not like I'm having trouble with traction right now... :devillook

But if after doing the 10 psi pulley, 36 lb injectors and Aquamist 2c, I guestimate I'll be around 370-380 rwhp, I might need more than drag radials in a car with all that power and under 3000 lbs in weight with the driver.... :evil2

UPDATE ON JUNE 8th SHORT HILLS MALL MEET!

The anal peeps in management/security dont want us there during normal hours. SO..............He said we can come like 6pm, and we'll be fine.

So I think the meet is being moved from 2pm to 6pm. Same Place same Date, just later in the day, closer to closing time.

And Maybe some NY crew can come down after thier meet, good idea? I think it'll be good, and I got the OK from my contact at the mall. It should be fine. Anyone have any suggestions just let me know. But as of now, I think 6pm is much better. Its stays light for a long time now, so its no prob for good pictures.

Oh yea, I am H&R Cup Kit equipped now :buttrock
So I am officially a 2650lb go kart with soon to be 225hp All engine baby! See yas at the mall :awink:

"The mall at short hills" meet i changed to 6pm, so if NY crew would like to chill, it would be coo as well.

Directions to short hills mall are at http://www.shopshorthills.com/index.html

Hope to see ya there! Peace

Oh yea I am still trying to think of something to do other then stand around... as stated by NY guys, it is kind of boring, but they are "chill" meets, just relax and talk cars and whatnot. I'll try to figure something out.

Actually I was gonna bump this for that very reason as well. I'm having lunch with Jimmy on Friday, I should know more then, but it's looking like Sun AM (8/25) is gonna be the best time to hit the track.

I spoke with Jimmy and we were at Atco Sunday, Jimmy can't join us, and eventhough the track guys know me, we can run all we want at the Test n Tune Sunday AM (8/25), but anyone with a vert running under 13.99 will need a proper 4 point cage or will be asked to leave, no special treatment.

The only let me get 1 run in yesterday... :(

Dark Helmet
06-10-2002, 11:59 AM

ok, sounds like picnic saturday PM and racing on sunday... DOES ANYONE HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIS????

SilverStreak
06-10-2002, 06:24 PM
Food Sat PM and Fun Sun AM is cool with me.

Tommy I ran an 11.95 at 114.1 mph, not bad, but not my best, it was warm and humid out (that's what I keep telling myself anyways :D ).

Phil, your car is clearly gonna be in the 12's.

What we'll have to do for practice is launch, run the 1/8th and get on the brakes, make sure we finish in the 14's or more, and then when you feel you have a good feel for it, go for it and get tossed out! :D

Tommy, and Coupe-folks, you can run under 13.99 provided you have a heltmet, but under 11.99, you'll need a cage too, or you'll get tossed as well.

Dark Helmet
06-10-2002, 06:34 PM
dave... do you have a list of all your timeslip data on a spreadsheet???

if you do, we should try to compile a regression to extrapolate the 1320 times from the 660 times.

SilverStreak
06-10-2002, 07:10 PM
Nope, just the old fashioned way. Now, speak English, what are you trying to figure out, again? :)

Dark Helmet
06-11-2002, 02:02 AM
in order to guage the performance of the high-powered cars at the strip (and since aerodynamics will be a wash between us) I was thinking of compiling all of your Z3 timeslips (even your M roadster ones) and trying to make some sense of the 1/8th times with relation to the 1/4 times (or mph).

this would allow us to extrapolate some meaning from the sandbagged runs and track the progress of the cars... you basically plot them against each other and have the computer figure out the trend, so when Phil runs a x.xx in the 8th, we know that he is already running 12.7 and when he runs x-.1 the next trip, we know it means he's tripping at a 12.5. its more complex than it looks, but it can be done.

if you have the data, I can do the analysis.

the basic idea is to get some "apples" data from the "oranges" that are the 1/8th.

Stylin
06-11-2002, 02:25 AM
Dave.. get a damn roll cage already!!!!

Willy, I haven't fully bought into the HMS look versus the stock clean look, and that certainly flies in the face of my whole "sleeper" mentality when people spot your cage! And contrary to popular belief I don't live at the track... :D Nowadays, I go 3-4 times a year, that's it.

das, ok, I thought you were gonna figure out my 0-60 times!! :) I have most of the sandbagged runs slips, but honestly sometimes I'd get on the brakes before, sometimes after, the 1/8th mile line. I was usually practicing my launch more than anything else, looking more at just my 60' times with those runs... :(

thats OK... I need to correlate the 660 with its ensuing 1320

that way I can say: with ~320hp, an x.xx 660 is equivalent to a xx.xx 1320... by compiling all the slips we have of Z3s, we build a profile for the cars top-end charateristics so that when phil runs a 9.0 660, we know it is equal to about 13.00 in the 1320 ((for illustration purposes only)

there are generic calculators out there, but they do not reflect the piss-poor aerodynamics of the Z3.

Yeah, but how do you account for the different gearing and tire sizes involved, mine are completely different from Phils, for instance...

Dark Helmet

actually, you all (except me) have pretty similar gearing and tire diameters are only going to chnage that a little.

that will also account for some of the error in the readings... this will not be prefect but I want to be able to tell phil that he has a LONG way to go to hit 12s so he doesn't waste his one full run on a 13.2 second pass. the same is true for any of the other Ms that show up... with some preparation, they will all be pushing close to the barrier at 13.99, so having the ability to get as many practice runs in as possible is critical.

I have also compiled all the data from our performance thread to throw into the analysis... it may not work out well, but we may be able to trend line it within .2 seconds or so (my goal)

typically HP is used to determine these things, but since the clock is what we are really working against, focusing on that will give us more information to get more cars more runs before getting us all kicked out...

(as long as its not "last man legal buys dinner" I'll be fine)

Yeah, but there are a few factors that will also screw things up, like the fact that I have drag radials and no one else does. No one is gonna have 60' times below a 1.8x on street tires and that's a huge factor, and I've only ever made like 3 runs with my car sans drag radials, and that was back when it was bone stock...

That's cuz this thread got too long. Do me a favor, lock this one with an explanation to see the new one called "NJ Meet 8/24 & 8/25" and I'll start a new one.

I don't know about Nikki, but Phil, das, and Sean and a bunch of others are still on board as far as I know.

Stylin

I'll close this thread and I see u started a new one.
