Handling:
Upgraded Sway Bars

Agreed. Are you looking for performance and/or cosmetic changes that make the biggest difference?

My list would be: Performance - Sway Bars, upgraded brakes, AA supercharger, Cosmetic - wheels and exhaust.

If you wanted to find a weak link in the M3 then, it would be in the

1) suspension department, mostly for track purposes, and high performance street driving...

2) A more aggressive diff would be felt more readily from your seat of the pants in terms of torque improvement.

3) tweaking the exhaust system of the M3 can be quite expensive, but you can get some impressive improvement with the M3 with a combination of a few mods... An engine is basically an air pump, so you need to get more air into the engine, and then we have got to get it out to make more horsepower.

the biggest restrictor in the US M3 exhaust system is those cats on the headers...

4) The engine's optimal performance is so dependant on software, that it is advisable to get some software to optimally realize any engine performance enhancements.

ECU and Intake are the best. Prefferably from dinan. Most expensive, but best quality IMO.

I am looking for power numbers. Really looking for good advice to make wise investments. As the price of M3 parts aren't cheap its nice to know what kind of bang for the buck i am getting. I am really leaning towards spending my money on a Coil over kit first, then exhaust, then intake, then software.

LOL..and the least power.

You want the biggest difference? Upgrade the driver. Performance driving schools will give a much bigger gain then any single mod. Go to a multi day school like Bondurant or Derek Daly (I've done both) they are excellent.

Good luck.

Unfortunately that does nothing to make the car faster. Only the driver..which isn't what he's asking for.

A good driver of a mazda protege can pass an inexperienced M3 driver on the track :D

And that has absolutely nothing to do with what he's asking.

They may not add hp, but they damn sure multiply torque faster. :)
I'm talking about gears, you will feel it sotp. Going from 2.73 to 3.73 in my TA was HUGE. Although this would be drastically less, you would still feel it more then a simple 5-10hp bump most mods will give you.

Yeah i know i can always be a better driver, but the driver mod hey thats thinking outside the box right. Anyway, I appreciate all the good advice, I'll probably start by going down to Joel at Bavarian Hyper Sports, since its like 20 mins from my house and have him set me straight. I met him once when i had an e36 m3 but i sold her before i got to modding.

Had I known you lived so close to Joel, I would have told you to go talk to him. :D

Well, if you really want to get into a arguement over semantics then you should re-read the original post. He specificially said "what mods really made the biggest difference to you". He then followed up with "I am looking for power numbers".

Since he was asking what mod made the biggest difference to me I gave my response. After attending Derek Daly's 2 Day GT Performance school I was able to extract more power out of my car. Last year when I went to Bondurant's Advanced Road Racing school I was then able to get even more power out of my car.

So, essentially, I did answer his questions. Dare I ask what your driving experience is? I notice that you have a significant number of mods to your car (and a Comp package M3 on the way, which is very cool). Have you upgraded the driver as well as the car?

He asked what "mods" make the biggest difference. Driving schools, while important...are not a modification. Period.

As far as my driving experience...you don't need to worry about that. I drive just fine. :D

I guess that we will have to just agree to disagree. I consider a "mod" to be any type of modification regardless of if it is to the car or driver. I am sure that you drive fine, well, not really sure, but I will take your word for it.

It would be a shame to have all of those mods to your car and not take it on the track.

Hey Joel knows his stuff. Just take a ride in his M3. He can get some power.
