A few months ago, I purchased the body colored black kidney grills from bimmerfreak. Well, since I am on the highway a lot of my week, needless to say, there are chips all over the grill that reveal the chrome that was painted over (looks horrible).

My question is, can I get the inside of the grill in black from BMWNA? Or do I have to keep repainting mine black. I would think that they would have these since my mothers' 530 has black on the inside instead of chrome like our M's. Can someone help me out, Thanks.

yes you can get the black e46 grill insert from the BMW shop - like from any e46 car for the right year that fits the M3 grill. I believe bimmerfreak will take care of your problem if you email them...there should be some solid ones out now...chk around...also chk bimmian.com

Thanks Ced, I emailed bimmerfreak yesterday, so hopefully they will get back to me. I think I might call the dealer since it will keep chipping if it gets repainted.

I just called and they said that there wasnt a black kidney made for the e46. Can anyone correct this(which pre-lift model) or is my dealer mistaken?

Thanks, I am not sure if this parts guy was looking at pre facelift e46's, but he said they didnt have them with black on the inside. Maybe Ill stop by and ask him to check the face lifted ones (The pic from bimmian is face lifted right?)

BTW-how did you get yours? what did you ask for?

the write up from bimmain on the left side of the page says that their are not painted over chrome. I believ bimmerfreaks are OEM BMWs painted over versus bimmian's customed made grill kits.

Oh, I still have the chrome around my grill with the blk insert only. My buddy thinks the blk instead of the chrome one would make my car look meaner... I'm not sure since my car is basically black, carbon blk that is...

Same thing happened to mine. Chrome grills painted black. Booooooo! Waiting for the solid ones to come in.
