View Full Version : e39 big brake kits
roddw 01-18-2005, 02:37 AM interested in opinions on the various big brake kits available for a 540: uuc, stoptech, brembo, etc.
with the strength of the euro vs. the dollar, american made uuc looks very good for the price.
thanks for your comments.--roddw
E34nication 01-18-2005, 10:48 AM I have the Brembo kit (e34 540, 4 piston 332mm 2 piece rotors) and I love them. I haven't heard any negative comments about the UUC 14" kit and it looks pretty nice. Are you going to be tracking the car?

BTW: on roadfly, someone was mentioning front brakes from a 750 (E38). anyone heard of this or know if it's been done?

E34nication 01-18-2005, 03:31 PM those prices on the brembos are too high... should be able to get them in the 2600 range (2 piece)
gol10dr1 01-18-2005, 03:33 PM another site i was reffered to is ww.frozenrotors.com. they have some good prices and offer that cryogenic treating of the rotors.

Thanks--read a review of the stoptech's, they sound like they are well built too. From my limited searching, the brembos are around 25% higher than either stoptech or uuc.
90% street use--very limited track use (I would be lying if I said looks do not play a big part), ;>)
gol10dr1 01-19-2005, 12:23 AM stoptech doesnt make a kit for any of the 5 series cars do they?
roddw 01-19-2005, 02:06 AM stoptech doesnt make a kit for any of the 5 series cars do they?

roddw 01-20-2005, 01:24 AM How do you like your kw v2 coilovers? I have been considering them for my car (probably the v1's).--rw

I love them, you can set them up pretty mild if you want in terms of the dampening, which is the only strut/shock adjustibility on the V2. And of course you can set the ride height exactly how you want it. They're quite pricey but build quality is first rate, second to none. I'm happy I went this route, that's the main thing.

Sorry, I can't really say...it was a "hooked-up" deal thru a friend who works for a wholesale distributor. The sale was run thru one his accounts (retail store). The price was based off of the wholesale price with some $$$ passed to the retail account for their trouble. It was still a little expensive though.
FASN8N 01-21-2005, 12:40 PM I have the 14in Brembos on my car and love them. They will rip your eye balls out of your head :)
