Yeah, I drive my car everyday. I got some 17x8's from Tirerack that came with "Dunlop SP M3 Winter Sport" tires. I got caught at a friends house when it started snowing that first time,(only a few inches) and I made it home with no problem, although the snow wasn't that deep, there was definitely alot of slush and ice. I will try and not drive to work on days when it is supposed to snow a lot (get a ride from someone with 4wd), but so far the tires are very good in the snow/slush and particularly good in the rain. I would say that it is a must to get snow tires if you have a rwd vehicle. Do not be worried, just try to get home before it turns into a blizzard, but yes, it is definitely possible to drive this car in the snow with the proper set up. Good Luck.

Chris,

I use my car daily, all year round. I've got 245/265 snow tires on my SSR Comps (18x9.5) and they work great. I never worry about getting stranded, and have no problems when the roads are a little messy. My only problem is that since the car is lowered, it turns into a snowplow pretty quickly. I measured ~3.5" clearance in the front. =p

As a daily driver, this thing rocks! I've already put ~30k miles and it feels even better now. Granted I've done a few things to it, just a few. ;)

You looking to get I see? LSB?

Have an a4 1.8 Quattro for the snowy stuff. Wouldn't want to risk damage to the 3.

Good to know Harold, thanks...

This is all your fault man... ;) I cant shake the images of your car and those LMs. :D Your car is quite inspirational. Still tossing around ideas...time will tell!

No LSB I dont think....i like alpine or one of the silvers...or steel. I think i would tire of LSB.

Good luck with the search .....

I also like Alpine, and Silver Gray. Alpine looks particularly good with LMs. :D

Are you still local in the area? Odd that I never see your car around anywhere.

I am still in the area, but haven't attended any meets in a while. I've been busy with work and building the track car, so I don't get to go to many meets. Once the track car is finished, I'll start bringing that to the meets.

Last winter, I drove with the STOCK 18" tires. Soo damn scary even with like an inch of snow. But I made it through. As said earlier in this thread, get home before the snow pounds and avoid driving as much as you can. I got stuck in the snow a few times, but I was born and raised in Boston... it's nothing new to me. Even FWD and AWD cars occasionally get stuck... just not as often. =P

This winter I still have on the 19" wheels I got over the summer... and... it's drivable. Scary as hell. Next year I think I'll invest in a beater truck or SUV.

Beavis drives his in the winter and has some VERY tough roads to drive on where he lives. Think he uses 17 inch rims with snow tires.
