My S54 seems to be consuming a fair bit of Oil. Today when I stopped the car the yellow ' check oil light ' was ok. Ok well Duh check the oil I thought then, yeh sure enough the level was fair bit down, just under half. This isnt the first time its happened either.

Since the last oil change 1 1/2 months ago, I havent really done many miles or thrashed the car. Ok a couple of times ive wound it up the redline and done some top speed runs...But still. Anyone perhaps know why or has something similar happend to them? Thanks in advance..

I'm in the same boat. My car went through 3L of oil this past season, which i think is a little too much. I put 8k km on my car and told the dealer about it as well. They said it might have to do with the bearing recall. The bearings were done and then she was put away for the winter. I also noticed that it was using more oil towards the end of the season.

I think a quart of oil every 1000 miles is considered normal... anything under that won't justify anybody to look into it.

1 quart every 1000 miles is a ton. Whether they consider it normal or not, that is a lot. At least bring it in and have them note it in the service records.

Wow, i put in 1/2 a quart after 3000 miles and i thought that was bad. Glad to know it's normal.

same usage here. my e36 M3 burned twice as much.

Ive done maybe 2000kms ( dont know what that is in miles ) since the service. Checked the level last night. Its getting towards the low side, and again I state it has happened in the past. Ill go to BMW and check it out anyway :stickoutt
