so i found out why my speakers sounds like crap @ high volume.... apparently, when transporting the boxes last week, they were dropped mid transit :shifty causing the backing to become loose... this is causing it to vibrate @ high volume. how can i fix this?
the backing is i think 1/2 inch thick composite and the box is 1/2 inch wood. is there something i can inject into the crack between the wood and the backing to make this rattling stop? i love these speakers and would hate to have to toss em after 20 years of usage! :eyecrazy
thanks you e-ballers.

is this for ur car? Doesnt look like its made from MDF and doesnt seem like it would be strong enough even if it wasnt loose. I do build subwoofer enclosures so let me know if u need anything

In all honesty....either get silicon and try sealing it or better yet get Gorilla glue and re-glue it. the G glue expands and then silicon seal it. If that doesn't work then rebuild the enclosure......
My suggestion would to be rebuild or pull the speaker and work from the inside out. But be careful not to alter the air volume...

well if i am going to rebuild an enclosure, im gonna redo speakers as well. i will def try gorilla glue and liquid nails with silicone sealant. i am assuming that home depot sells all this stuff?

yeah, you can't go wrong with gorilla glue. just be careful, because it expands when it dries, so it might end up being visible somewhere you don't want it to be.
