Congtrats! Interlagos is going to be one rare colored M3. BTW did you consider ordering the power seats as a stand-alone option instead of the premium package? Premium pak you get the rectangular instead of the oval rear view (I really like this feature). Your opinion on the differences will be good because you currently own a regular M3. Looking forward to the pics and write up.

My guy told me that bmw assist is a stand alone option. I thought that was the only reason that the mirror was shaped differently. I might be wrong.

It's all nappa leather except for the steering wheel and handbrake. They are Alcantara.

Congrats on a sweet car! I went by the dealership yesterday and saw an Interlagos Blue Competition . Definitely post some good info about the difference between a regular M3 and the competition, because I'm getting either a regular or competition late spring / early summer and want to know if the comp package is worth it.

Assist is similiar to GMs "Onstar" system. One year is free after that it is like 250.00 dollars per year.

I've heard both HK systems and the upgraded one sounds better. As far as PDC goes, i have a dog that likes to sit behind the car. This will be my 3rd BMW with it, and probably the 5th or 6th time i will not run over my dog because of it. Thanks for your input though.

To be honest, I've never really liked BMW blues like Avus and Le Mans. But, the Interlagos is truly stunning on the competition M3. My jaw literally dropped when I saw it; you're in for a truly amazing looking car. Interlagos has some color depth to it that I don't see in the Avus and Le Mans.

Hendrick BMW in Charleston had it - rare color combo for Charleston (Interlagos exterior and Imola interior). The guy that ordered it picked it up on Saturday, and I saw it driving 2 days ago. It was amazing looking.

So i will use the money and change the wheels. I was dissapointed at first but I am sure i won't care once i get a new m that is a big upgrade from what i have...

Side note: Is the shifting real long on an e46 is it worth buying an ssk and if so is uuc the best bet for the e46 i know they are great for the e36. Thanks john

Thread Hijack-

M-Phibian-

Why do you run Toyo T1-S on your track M3? (per your sig)

I'm on my second set for the NSX over the past 20k, but I'm thinking its time for a change. They are cheap and a great value, but you can get a much better tire for 50-75% more $. I recommend them to people, but as a value HP tire, not an ultimate HP tire.

With all the money you have in that M3, the T1-S seems like an odd choice, particularly for a track car. (I must admit I track my NSX on T1-S, but as I said, I think its time for a change). I find they are a bit squishy and the turn-in is not that great. The replacement model should be improved.

I think I have just convinced myself to get different tires, how about you? ;) :lol

M-Phibian
01-20-2005, 09:14 PM
Braht - I'm sure I don't "track" my car like you do. It's primarily a street car that sometimes sees time on Autocross trcks and dragstrips. I might go with PS-2's next time (probably will), but the T1's have been good to me so far. They're my first set, and so far I've been happy with them.

Sorry for the thread-jack.:)

Quit being such a tool.

Amen Brutha!!!

This is my second E46 M3 with PDC (both forced to buy due to SMG requirement that madates PDC) and guess what - when I back into my parking space at work everyday, its exactly where I want it to be parked, far back corner of an end space. I like it so much I hope the put it on the front bumper some day that way when I pull my yuppie M3 driving ass into starbucks I dont have to think too hard about wether I will rub the underside of the lower front spoiler on the curb or not.

Now as far as the HK goes - I have had it on 3 BMW's now (2 E46 M3's and one 330xi) and the jury is still out on it. I do'nt think it is that great but hey the extra boost of bass with the HK is enough for me to keep from getting some aftermarket crap with a bunch of tunerific flourescent blue trunk lighting!!! $675.00 for the HK option financed of 5 years = Who F'n Cares!!!

Congrats on your order. It's exciting to see someone who is so excited about getting their new car!

What do you guys think about SMG vs. Manual? I test drove an M3 with SMG with a great sales guy who used to teach people how to race, and I went from being very dubious about it to, heart pounding thrill ride exuberance. I had tried SMG stage one in a 3 series and thought it pretty much sucked. SMG stage 2, is...something else!
But I love my manual. I've never driven anything else!

Once again, a dealer checks off all the options including the 19" forged wheels which are an extra upcharge of 1750 and means that the ZCP owner won't get the special ZCP wheels with the car.

This is really unfortunate. A person that wants the full ZCP package options won't be getting ZCP package wheels. Get ready for people to walk from this car or be prepared to take a bit off the MSRP to take the sting out of not getting the desired ZCP wheels.

DAMN! Still at the port in Elizabeth. Sales guy told me that the truck will be bringing it to JMK tomorrow morning, so i am going down then to take a look at it. Bringing a digital camera so i can post the pics.

New Jersey is supposed to be getting slammed with weather this whole week, so i may wait to get it for a nice day. Then again, once i see it i will probably want to bring it home that second so who knows. My hope is to have it by the autox this coming sunday...but with the looks of the weather it is going to get cancelled again.

Man, i went almost 2 months without even really thinking about it, the last week has been total hell!!! :mad

2nd to last pic in my second set is a shot in the sun.

As i have said before....pics do not do this color justice. It looks WAY better in person than on a computer screen.

I could have it as early as tomorrow, but the weather is so shitty i do not want to get it. :( But if i hold out for a nice day i may end up waiting a couple weeks. I dunno...i will make my decision tonight or tomorrow. I also have to decide if i want a stone guard cause my sales guy said he could cut me a killer deal if i want to get it done this week.

03-09-2005, 06:57 PM
Get the stoneguard without question. You will hardly notice the film on a color like IB, but you definately will see the little white stone chips in a few months. Next to black, blue cars show chips the most. I would get the mirrors done too.

Get stoneguard and pick the car up asap. It's safer in your garage then at the dealer with people poking around it.

I'll think about the stoneguard. I may just have the guy you know do it ro... I will get a quote from alex and see what JMK wants to charge me.

I don't need to worry about it down there, it went into the warehouse in the back where no-one goes. (i would rather have it in my garage though)

Yeah usually on new cars they put styrofoam blocks to prop the suspension up to make it easier to load/unload the car from the shipping truck. Also the suspension usually needs a few thousand miles to settle down.

Yes. The shipping blocks are still in. The car was literally taken off the truck and put in front of the dealer. Non of the prep has been done...it only has a couple gallons gas etc. I think i am just going to get it ready to go and pick it up friday morning. Not unless it's nice out and the stoneguard has been done which is doubtful. I can wait another couple of days. Especially if it means picking it up in nicer weather.

Budman- I'm sure nothing bad, i have friends who work at the dealer and they say all the M, 760, ZHP, 545, 645 etc are babied. If the car is abused it's just going to come back with problems and they don't want that any more than you do.

The suspension looks about as low as i think it's going to get. It's got 650 miles on it so i don't see it really settling any more.

The brakes are UNBELIVEABLE!!! You touch the pedal and you get crazy braking power. Just yesterday exiting the highway.....85 on an offramp for 35....come up to the curve, touch the brakes, glide around the turn....it was breaktaking!!!

For the record, all 2005 BMW M3's received mild suspension upgrades. 05 M3's and M3 ZCP's share the same suspension setup. The M3 ZCP's 19" wheels are from BBS and weigh less than the optional 19" wheels for the standard M3.
