hey everyone I have my bavarian soundwerks enclosure on the way and i need sub and a amp... heres a link to the enclosure:

http://www.bavariansoundwerks.com/products/description.php/II=344

now the ony thing is the enclosure is only 5.6" deep so the subs mounting depth cant be more then that.

now im looking for 2 10's and a amp to power them... i dont want to spend a ton of money or anything... i just want some nice clean bass.

i was looking at the RE subs.... are they quality?? where is a good place to get some prices??

and i was looking at eD subs and amps and they have this package:
(2) 11Kv.2 Dual 2 + (1) eD NINe.1
$485.00 Package*

sound like a good deal?? are these subs and amps good??? and what else would you guys recommend???

i dont want to spend more then $175 on each sub.

someone PM'd me about 2 JL 10w3v2's for pretty cheap... i think around $270 with a enclosure so probably low $200 area without the enclosure... should i think about these??

thanks for any help!

nice choice, ED is good stuff. I would check out image dynamics IDQ's. Adire Audio is awesome as well.

I have a single JL 10W3V2 in a sealed enclosure in my trunk, very happy with how that sounds. Not overpowering, never boomy, just solid deep down thump. Thumbs up.

thanks for the replys guys... i cant believe how hard it is to decide on a friken sub/amp combo :help

but yah when i found that eD combo it was pretty much exactly what i needed and i know they are a good brand.. i just havent heard them personally. and i will see how much the guy wants for the JL's without the enclosure and see what to do.. he was also selling a JBL amp for pretty cheap that i might get.. im not a big fan of JBL but i know they make pretty good amps for that price range.

but keep the suggestions/comments coming!

and can you guys tell me what to look for in a amp?? i dont know if i need a 2 ohm or mono or 4 ohm or what?!? thanks!

i have the eD 10kv.2s and really like them. they are in an enclosure that i built, but is very similar to the bav auto one. i just used 3/4" mdf and made the dimensions slightly bigger. plus i had to figure out my own way to hang it from the rear deck. oh and mine are running of the eD 9.1, great amp to go with in my opinion.

Dark Vadors,

I'm in the exact same position as you. I just ordered the bavarian soundwerks enclosure too and I'm trying to figure out which sub/amp combo to get. Have you considered getting MB quart subs and the ra2400 amp? They are pretty expensive if you get them from bavarian soundwerks, but you can find some good deals on ebay.

JL 10w7's would be nice, but they are too big for the enclosure and they are SO HEAVY!

Be sure to let us know what you decide on.

yah i will keep you guys up to date... its so hard to make a decision.. theres so many options

but the eD are sounding better and better everyday, good price and its a package deal, and best of all they fit :D

hey AB, do the eD's hit hard??? clean????

thanks.

I'm picking up a pair of Soundstream Exact 10's for 140 (pair). They don't make them anymore, but you can find them if you look hard.

Sounddomain used to list them at over 300 a sub.

i dont have any rear speakers in, primarily for the soundstage but also to allow more bass into the cabin.

i would say that im impressed with how hard they hit for 10s and how clean they are. i would say they are a very musical sub. much better suited to sq than spl. but they get plenty loud for me. the amp is theoretically throwing 600rms at each woofer, but im running the sub line out on the deck at 1/2 power (8v pre-out) and i almost never turn the volume over 50 out of 80.

i would recommend these subs, and the eD amps to anyone in a heartbeat :D

I just recieved my Alpine MRD-501 amp from Crutchfield. Currently they have a special on these amps right now:

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-CxQ4YIuU1ol/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?wm=fp&I=500MRDM501&g=130

I have not seen this amp for this price anywhere else.

But I am leaning towards the JLW3's... however I don't think they fit in the BSW box for the E36 (I have an E46). However I think the Image Dynamics might fit.

BTW another caraudio place I went to tried recommending Audiobahn as their first choice, the clif design, then Treo (although the build of the Treo and Clif Design looked very nice)... for my type of box... I proceeded to get out as fast as possible. And it happened again at another one where they tried to push W0's and other lesser woofers on me.

now should i look at the image dynamics subs??? they are in the price range.

I here very good things about Image Dynamics, that is what I originally wanted to get. It came down to JL10W3V.2 versus ID10V.3. The ID10's are pretty cheap, you can get a pair from cardomain for $220. However I have never heard Image Dynamics in a car yet. I figure the best way is to audition the subs & I have heard the W3's and they do sound pretty good. I am gonna have to go back to some stores and audition the W3's again in a dual enclosure box to be sure that it is what I really want before it is too late for me to back out of the JL subs.

I don't even think the 10w7 would fit in that enclosure. My one 10 alone is in a JL spec ported box and it takes up 75% of the trunk.

Go with a 10w3v2.

Dark Vadors
01-15-2005, 08:59 PM
yah im pretty sure they are too deep....

right now these are the subs im looking at:

-adire koda 10
-re re 10 (the specs on the site dont tell me what the mounting depth is though)
-image dynamics ID10V.2
-soundsplinter RL-i 10"
-eD 11Kv.2

the only thing is that the KODA's are expensive, $230 a piece.... the other subs are much cheaper.

what would you guys pick?? I hear great stuff about all the subs... and im looking for a clean woofer that can be loud if i crank it up but i dont care about shaking the ground or anything, i just want great sq.

thanks guys.

I got a 10w3v2 in a sealed box and could not be happier for the money I spent. I got it and the US Amps USA-100 (99 Model - 350 RMS) for around $280. I wanted the eD but they wouldn't tell me when they were going to be able to ship. They may sound awesome but I can't see waiting for a 10" sub when there are so many good subs on the market. They are missing the supply part in supply and demand. I was ready to spend my money right then...they couldn't sell me their product...they didn't get my money.

I'm running MB Quart subs and Fosgates amps. But if I were starting from scratch with a enclosure like yours, I would probably buy JL subs. As far as the amp goes, buy the best for your dollar. Kinda like draft day...you have the first pick, do you pick a QB, RB, CB, etc...Fosgate, Kicker, ADS, Alpine, etc, just get the most for your money.

hope that helps.

its just a joke, becuase the preorder always takes so long. The K's are out and are shiipping so i dont think it should be a problem. The O's however are still waiting to be shipped out

Which MB Quart subs do you have and what don't you like about them? I'm considering 10" MB Quart reference subs or possibly JL 10w3's.

I have 2 12" PWD's. They sound great, but too expensive. JL, Kicker are less $$$ and more available.

the problem is the JL's mounting depth is too deep and wont fit in the enclosure... its only 5.6" deep... the woofers in that list all fit too my knowledge... if you can show me a good JL in that size and price range ill add it to the list :)

if i were you i would go to edesignaudio.com and buy the combo. it saves a shit load of money with the package.

also, check out icixsound.com. its a forum with people that have quite nice systems, and also is the home of elemental designs. they are really easy to get into contact with, and offer real good advice, even if it isn't with their brand

Vadors, have you considered getting MB Quart subs? After all, the enclosure you got was designed with those subs in mind. You can find the RWE's on ebay for like $110 each.

ive thought about the MBQ's but everyone says there are much better subs for the money... i guess the mbq's don't get very loud, nad how my car is setup you need it loud to get into the cabin.

now i found image dynamics IDQ10's for $144 shipped.... that sounds good too.

keep the suggestions coming :)

thanks again!

IDQ10s are awesome-sounding subs, although I think they are ugly as hell. That said, if I only had 5.6" of depth to work with, those would go in my car without a doubt. I have a bit more room and decided to go with a single RE SE10 (6" mounting depth). I don't have an amp for it yet, but once I do... :evil2

i was told that the idq's are not really an improvement over the id's so the extra money would be a waste... now i went to icixsound.com and posted there for some help and people were recommending the eD's... hmmmmmm.... so many choices!

I have some JL 10W3v2 subwoofers for sale along with a JL 500/1 amp and an ADS P650 amp. I think JL subs sound awesome. Let me know if your interested. I would work out a deal if you bought the subs and amp together. Just make an offer. Thanks Zach.

How do you guys feel about Audiobahn? I just bought this enclosure from a bf.c member, and purchased two Audiobahn AW1051T subs and an Audiobahn A6004T amp. The subs and amp go together perfectly, as far as I can figure from the ratings. The amp will be pushing 300wX2 rms.

Just curious, cuz the brands you guys seem to be referring to are very high-end... what do you think of Audiobahn for someone who wants to fill out sound, rather than compete in competitions? :D

Dark Vadors
01-25-2005, 06:00 AM
i personally havent heard audiobahn so i cant comment.... and im just going for a great sounding system not competing at all!

and these subs ive mentioned arent that expensive, but are great sounding.
