View Full Version : Why I couldnt go to the Jan 9th meet.
Ryan Stewart 01-09-2005, 02:15 AM So I pulled my manifold to replace the coolant hoses and diagnose an intermittent no charge problem.
Turns out the nut that holds to positive contacts to the starter was about to fall off, so just the small edges were all there to conduct current.

Edited: And I also found this. Im gonna have to set aside an afternoon and pull the manifold again so I can tilt the engine/tranny to loosen those bolts to get the dowl to line up.

EDIT:
I retract my comments regarding European Car Company. They were made when I was frustrated and were a bad decision. I should have been fair and allowed them to address the problem beforehand.
Oh, and there is a hell of a lot more room with that damn manifold out of the way, I cant wait till I get ITBs.

Knowing what I know now with an engine hoist and load leveler there is no reason it should take me more than 30hrs to swap an M50 (not counting modifying the exhaust).
Tellmem3 01-09-2005, 03:40 AM damn Ryan!
Who worked on your ride? That sucks!
Hope the swap goes well. Keeps us posted!
Ryan Stewart 01-09-2005, 11:50 AM Edited: read first post.
That sucks man. Did they replace any of your bolts? Sometimes bolts back themselves off b/c they arent made out of the right grade metal. I've lost all confidence in the automobile industry... If you want things done right do them yourself.
Ryan Stewart 01-09-2005, 02:21 PM I dont know, that is one more thing I just have to do now. I have to so I can ensure that their subpar work doesnt result in any irreparable damage.
Mr Project 01-10-2005, 11:35 AM Boy, that really sucks, sorry to see that, Ryan. It's incredible the things that 'professionals' think they can get away with, that an amateur like us would never dream of calling 'done'. Hopefully it hasn't damaged the input bearings on the tranny.
Hammdy 01-10-2005, 01:10 PM That's ridiculous. I can't believe that they put the tranny back on like that and either didn't notice or more likely were just very imcompetent.
NascarSigEp 01-10-2005, 09:55 PM Shit. I forgot. I'm sorry.
SVORLY 01-12-2005, 11:42 PM I'm not a big fan of European Car Company. I have been trying since I bought Yan's car to get the service records from them and they have resisted every attempt. The week before Christmas, the secretary told me she would send them in a few days. I was patient and waited until today to call and find out why they weren't here. She told me they can't send me the records without Yan's written consent due to "privacy laws". I know there are privacy laws, but COME ON!! This is MY car now. I need the records so I know when my car is due for maintenance, etc. Just what exactly are they trying to protect Yan from? They don't want me finding out what was done to the car and how much it cost?
And to top it all off, each and every time I've called the secretary has been incredibly rude. She was definitely not intended for the service industry, seeing as how she has no manners. :mad
I am done. :(
Ryan Stewart 01-12-2005, 11:47 PM IF you want I can get ahold of Yan and have him tell them to turn over the records.
I think they are probably doing it because you are not a customer of thiers.
SVORLY 01-13-2005, 12:14 AM I PMed him, but if you have a better way to get ahold of him, then by all means go for it. I tried email but it came back as an error.
I too have the feeling they are doing it because I am not their customer, and at this rate, I never will be. I will be having everything done at Hafkemeyer. The secretary was a real bitch about it the first time I called, too. I told her I wanted a copy, and she told me how she had made 2 different copies for Yan, and she told him the next time she was going to charge him for it, so I would have to pay for it since this was the third time.
I tried to explain to her that I was the NEW owner, and as such I was a different person than Yan and should be treated as a new customer. Why should I have to pay for him losing it? I am a different person! Wow just thinking about it I get so mad. She was one of the rudest people I have ever talked to. Is she that bad in person?
Ryan Stewart 01-13-2005, 12:48 AM Yes. I never really talked to her much though.
They are most likely in financial troubles. David got on a race kick and put all his eggs in one basket and its hurting him now. Too bad too because his bro Mark would probably run it well as just a shop.
*The above is stated is my opinion only, I have no intimate knowledge of European Car Company's financial situation*
Bimmer8604 01-13-2005, 12:51 AM I too have tried to get my service records on the car I owned. Didn't really get anywhere tho. I think they do have privacy laws, but im not too sure. I will be down there tomorrow probably and I will see what I can do. Its a shame that this kind of stuff happens and how people take care of it.
Glad to see you are getting your car figured out ryan, its a lot more comforting im sure knowing that you are going over everything done and that stuff is the way you want it.
kyle
SVORLY 01-13-2005, 01:38 AM Thanks for any and all help guys. I appreciate it. I can't believe the level they are stooping to trying to keep the service records from me! A big reason I was so interested in the car was because it came with all of the records, and I even personally talked to David on the phone about picking them up, but the only weekend I had free to pick up the car, he was out of town. Now they're trying to play like they never said I could have them. :mad
Sorry for the thread hijack, Ryan. :devillook
NascarSigEp 01-13-2005, 11:21 AM Can you get the service records from any dealership? If you can I can ask our service dept to get them.
Ryan Stewart 01-13-2005, 12:19 PM Only if the car was serviced at that dealership. If it was serviced at an independent they dont have copies of them.
Speaking of, Brandon you might try to get ahold of the person who had the car before Yan, they would have more complete records if they still do. Yan only had the car a couple months before he had to ship out.
NascarSigEp 01-13-2005, 12:46 PM That's cool. Thought I could help.
