View Full Version : This sucks, but I need help
topspin 01-08-2005, 10:55 PM So I parked my car, when i came back, I saw that someone hit me. I was not very happy about it at all. It pisses me off because now I have to spend money and fix it.
Relatively, its not too bad. It just the nose piece that holds the grill in.
its part #21 on this site
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=BF93&mospid=47486&prod=19950500&btnr=41_0043&hg=41&fg=10&PHPSESSID=f5175ae0af1d8fbd13252dae17f7206f
At least my bumper and hood are fine. So I dont think insurance will come into play, i will just get it done myself.
Anyway, I called BMW and that piece is like 150. Plus someone has to paint it.
So, do you know of a good place to paint that piece cheaply, or anywhere that can get a discount on the part from the $tealer.
Also, do you have any idea how hard it is for me to install that piece myself?
Thanks....
The Beastmaster 01-08-2005, 11:04 PM Call your insurance company first. Also, make sure you file a police report as proof that someone hit you.
For paint, I go to Central Auto Body or Steves. Other guys go to Global Auto on Sand Island.
IslandS62 01-08-2005, 11:47 PM Global is not the cheapest. I used to go to Auto Fender Clinic in town, and there are several others there like City Fender or Acme that I have heard do an OK job.
Do you want perfection or do you want it done cheap?

Cheap but decent. It doesnt need to be perfect.
So it seems like there is no way to get a discount from the $tealer and im gonna be eating their 150$ price tag?
IslandS62 01-09-2005, 12:32 AM well, club membership will get you at least 10%.
You might try some online parts dealers or even wrecking yards, s\ince the part is going for paint anyhow. I've had good luck with Bav Auto Recycling and Euro Parts Depot.
The Beastmaster 01-09-2005, 01:11 AM Who knows, they might even have your Alpine White part in stock! :redspot
thrlls 01-09-2005, 03:20 AM Hey topspin, very, very, very good job on your first Autox! :buttrock
topspin took Top Novice position and 35 overall :alright
Now get that front end fixed!
Gene V 01-09-2005, 04:16 AM The same thing happened to me, but you have to take a good look to notice it. Went to Central and they quoted me $500 to replace the piece and paint it...decided it didn't look that bad. My car is starting to look it's age from scratches, chips and shopping cart hits.

This one is pretty bad. Its pretty bad. I am going to call those junkyards, and hopefully they have the part.
I dont know, but maybe some shop will be able to hammer the piece into shape?
We'll see....
topspin 01-13-2005, 11:37 PM Has anyone had experience pulling/replacing the nose piece(Grille holder). Reason im asking...do you think its DIYable?
IslandS62 01-13-2005, 11:45 PM Did you get a new nose? I am sure its something we can figure out. You took the headlight out last time, I am sure that's half the procedure right there.

Gee we have 3 generations of Punahous here.
80's - Me :D
90's - IslandS52
00's - Topspin and thrlls' stepdaughter
Oh man, I just found out one of my Punahous friends is a DOE Superintendent. This guy was asked to leave Punahou and I think he barely graduated from Varsity High. :confused
IslandS62 01-14-2005, 01:00 AM nope, sorry. Me 80's too :(

Astroboy 01-14-2005, 01:41 AM or "Poor Man's Punahou"...that being the buff and blue of Kaiser :D ..?? Do any of those qualify? If so, then you can add in the '70's there to your generations list. :D (I know, I know, weak try astroboy) Darn rich kids, next year get me a weeklong pass to the Sony Open! :D

Yikes! ....and to think I just finished a conversation with her on how you are a model citizen with high integrity and good character, and that your alcohol consumption is strictly for medicinal purposes, and that your body clock is set to evening hours which explains why you are never home at night....
She told me she is 29!!!!, and NOT "from one of decades not covered"....
...."but honey, he is a good man....and, and..and thrlls, he, he, uses that stuff for medicinal purposes too!!! They are in need LOTS of medicine to cure their ailments... ;)

Did they have cars and motorcycles back then! :D j/k
At Castle it was drugs, beer, hanging in the back parking lot waiting for grunts to come by and sell pakalolo so we could rip them off, throwing blows with grunts, bumming for money, threating teachers, and girls....sheit!
I just realized why I didn't have any g/f's :(
Now it's wife, kids, work, work, homework, work, homework, cars.
IslandS62 01-14-2005, 02:35 AM LOL in short, Thrlls was the kind of kid I would run away from in school. :help:

I never said anything about a specific decade. The 90's was not taken as IslandS52 is probably from '89. So I figured she could be from that decade. ;)

I hear you loud and clear...except I'm :D past the kids and homework...

One of these days she has to change her "I'm 29" story, and probably much sooner than later :D
I must thumb through her school annuals to see Beastmaster and Islands52 when they were little boys :D

You may find IslandS52's pic, but Beastmaster was already in the Beasty apprenticeship program and became a Master by the time he graduated. Hence you may not find a pic of him.
Didn't you see his post on "Where's drinking and Partying"?
The Beastmaster 01-14-2005, 07:02 PM Speaking of annuals. For my senior year, 4 buds got together and had a page for themselves. They had explicit shots of themselves sitting commando. They also had a Heineken label smack dab in the middle of the page! Well, the editors censored the commando shots and a large Oahu College sticker was placed over the Heineken label in all Oahuans!
There are pics of me in the chess club, finance club, computer club and math league. :D
