Wanted to say hello and find out if anyone had a certain opinion on exhaust choices. Just picked up an 00 M Roadster w/ 16k and a teo years CPO left on the car. I have added lights, adding Dinan friday and wanted to handle the exhaust this weekend. Thanks for the help and hope everone is getting off to a new year....Ohh...and I got a bright shiney new ticket from Plano PD to go with the car.Fock!!! :nono

Welcome to the forums! Nice mileage on your ride! I guess since you are going with Dinan upgrades, you could go with their exhaust, too. Pricey.. but you're already there, so.. They say Supersprint is a nice exhaust unit, too.

I used to have a Dinan exhaust on my car and I didn't really like it. I changed to a B&B Triflo and I love the sound. It's pretty loud but not as loud as the UUC exhausts.

On my Z3 i'm running the magnaflows, it sounds great and is really deep, not to great for talking on the phone in the car and the speakers have to be up a bit louder. Only cost me 210 with tips for the exhaust so double that price and thats what you will pay (since Z3 only runs one muffler etc.)

Joe I believe still has his magnaflows on his car, I think one time he even reportedly shot flames out and it is def. more subtle but still loud. I think he paid roughly 300 something for his however.

So far the best sounding exhaust I've heard on the mcoupe/roadster is the Supersprint, but you pay for that too...

Congrats!

A lot of people went with magnaflows. I personally wanted the B&B triflows on my m coupe. I don't think you're going to gain that much from exhaust. You're mainly trying to make it sound nicer right?

Exhaust isnt usually a big gain on our cars. I would choose the magnaflows having heard it on Joe's mcoupe and Lee's z3. It sounds really good and you cant beat that price.

Might I also suggest a V1 to keep the piggies away? Its saved me more than a few times. Welcome to the boards. Congrats on the car.

And hate Dallas more!

Let me quickly relate a story. Just got my M, no tags yet since the license plates are immediately seized in Florida upon buying the car. (you have a 30 day grace period to register)

Setting the scene: Driving home from work, stuck in Traffic on 35, just got out of down town area.

See lights behind me...Haven't done anything illegal.

Takes 10 minutes to pull over because im in the far left lane and its bumper to bumper traffic, I feel like an idiot. Put keys on dashboard, turn light on, keep hands on wheel.

Officer: May I please ask you to step out of the car son.
I get out, he makes me walk behind my vehcile, I look like a dumbass and people are slowing creeping by staring at me.

Officer: Is that your vehicle sir?
Me: Yes sir
Officer: WHy aren't there any plates on it?
Me: Bought the car in Florida 6 days ago, I have a 30 day grace period to get registered
Officer: THats not an excuse son
Me:...Sorry sir
Officer: What do you do to afford a car like that?
Me: You really want to know sir? Its hte import export business.

Officer didn't think this was to funny...I giggled

Me: Sorry sir I was trying to lightne the situation, I work at Gardere and Wynne attorney offices.
Officer: And they pay you well enough to buy that
Me: Not necessarily, I recieved WIll money
Officer: Oh, what do you have to prove that it is your car.
Me: I have the title with my name on it, and insurance and inspection
Officer: Well thats great and all, please step back into your car, I will be there shortly.

I go back to car, wait....wait...wait

Officer: I'm going to have to write you a ticket for no registration or tags
Me: *I'm wearing the WTF face* Sir I told you why I do not have tags
Officer: You can talk to the judge about that.

Gives me ticket, I crumple up ticket, stick it in my mouth, spit it in passenger side. Drive off

NOW thats being a dick...at least it will be dismissed after paying court fees etc. GGGRRRRRR

Thankls for listening to lees story time

For mental-note purposes only.. the DPD helicopter only hits between 120-135mph and its pretty well straight from downtown to plano up I-75 so there is no corners for him to catch you on ;)

That does sound like a great idea and all, but it was bumper to bumper traffic...lol

I also like the way you put it as "mental-note purposes only"

They don't give you a temporary tag in FL?
Regardless, this guy sounds more like an idiot than like a tool.
Oh well.. Hopefully there are no applicable court costs for this.

You CAN get a temporary tag IF you pay the sales tax in florida. BUT then when you get to texas you have to pay the TEXAS sales tax.

Why pay tax in both states for one car?!?!?! Florida is weird and gay.

You should have told the cop you're going to find him off duty and shoot him in the face. Problem solved.
