Hey I might be moving out there in a year or so and would like to hear your opinion on it. I will be going to CSU and would like to know about apartment prices, fun things to do(near by ski resorts, bike/hiking trails, good fishing spots, quality of girls, etc.), good places to eat.
Also what can I expect to dislike about the area, I want the full scale of life in Fort Collins.
Thanks,
Luke

I cant tell you a lot about CSU but i do have experience partying there. I go to school in Greeley at UNC and its only about 25 min away. CSU is a nice place girls are good but nothing great, if you are comparing it to something in CA or AZ. Parties are ok, wouldnt say they are off the hook but they are good. Right now they are hurting because of all the trouble that the frats got into with the deaths of people on their campus.
There is quite a lot to do in the Fort. Good size city with somewhat of the small town feel to it. Ski resorts arent too far away, you should only be about an hour and a half from the good ones. Travel a little bit up around the boulder area and fishing is amazing. Boulder is only about 45 min away so lots more options. Denver is only about a 45 min drive so anything else you could need you can find there.
Hopefully some of this helps.

Miss the girls of CA, Ive gone to school in Greeley and Fort Collins and norther Colorado is hurting on the women. I spent a week in Santa Barbara a few months ago and saw more amazing women there then all my time in colorado, other than that its a decent place to live.

IMO compared to Iowa its a step up, granted I've only visited Iowa, but I know a few people that moved from there. Can't compare it to Cali of course, then again, SoCal is crap with the traffic and lifestyle.
Fort Collins: old town (5-10 minutes from campus) is where the bars are at, there are quiet a few of em, but if you are like anyone else you'll pick our favorites and do a tour on weekends. There are plenty of activities on and around campus, you are right by the foothills so hiking, fishing, boating (on horsetooth reservoire), going for a canyon run in the Bimmer, etc, is all in the books. It takes about 1.5-2 hours to get to a good ski resort, so CSU isn't as close to good skiing as CU in Boulder. The town still has a bit of a hick town feel to it, so if you need upscale bars or other entertainment you gotta roll down to Denver. If you want hippie and chill head to Boulder, both 45min-1hour drive.
The women: you know how it goes, there's good ones and bad ones. I would say there are hotter women in Boulder and Denver, but those are also bigger cities. Germany is the place to be for women!!! Overall though it's a college town, and there are some hot honeys no doubt, all relative to town size.
Eating: depends what you are looking for. You need some fine dining, Fort Collins isn't for you. You want college food, Red Robing, Chili's, McDonald's, you're in like flinn. Fort Collins has the 7th most resteraunts per capita in the U.S. (quality not measured). My personal favorite's are Chipotle (although some are partial to Big City Burrito; both right on campus), and Taipan (Jon Won the owner makes mad drinks and drives and M3, enough said).
Cops are axeholes, no surprise.
I didn't go to CSU so I'm not the expert on frats, don't know who is either.
Hope all that helped.

I'm not about fancy restaurants and bars, I just like a nice place to sit down eat, have a few drinks. And not a frat type person either, so no need to worry about that.
But thanks for all the info on outdoor activities.
Definitely won't be bringing the BMW over there, won't have a garage to park it in and I am thinking of selling it by then anyway.

I visted my friend at CSU for a week last spring and came to some conclusions. It's a nice town, pretty clean and all. What I noticed most is that when going to parties or just meeting people all the people there are really friendly and laid back. It's not like IC where you go to a party and expect to see some bottles broken and/or cops breaking it up. And lots of people like to smoke drugs and listen to the Grateful Dead. It's too bad you aren't bringing your car because there are some really sweet roads around there. That's my 2 cents.
