I just moved to the Reston/Herndon area in northern VA and am looking for a good mechanic nearby. Or...although I dread going to the stealer, does anyone have experience from them around here?

View Full Version : Good BWM mechanic in Reston, VA area? hozehead4 01-05-2005, 01:45 PM I just moved to the Reston/Herndon area in northern VA and am looking for a good mechanic nearby. I wouldn't say the service is excellent, but it isn't bad either. The nice thing is that they provide loaners, but it can take upwards of three weeks to get an appointment. Also, the service advisors don't appear to stick around very long. For an independent, you can try Curry's in Chantilly or Ashburn. Unfortunately, they are just as expensive as a dealer. Labor rates in the area are around $95 per hour and I have yet to find someone with a lower rate. simsima325 01-05-2005, 02:01 PM Curry's didnt treat me so nice throughout my experience there. wouldnt return. It's about 20 or so minutes, not even, from Reston. Welcome to the neighborhood. I moved down here from Philly back in 2000 and made many trips to KoP Mall. CurrysAuto 01-06-2005, 09:08 AM simsima325, I'm surprised to hear about your negative experience at Curry's. We really do pride ourselves on our customer service. If you could relate to me what happened and why you felt you weren't treated fairly, I will do everything in my power to correct the situation to your satisfaction. If you feel more comfortable calling me directly, please feel free to do so as well. Martin Motorsports quoted me $80 an hour. Aren't dealers something like $130 an hour? GUINNESS 01-06-2005, 09:50 AM Martin Motorsports quoted me $80 an hour. Aren't dealers something like $130 an hour? FYI, I think Gary raised his rates to $85/hr. I don't think I ever came across a dealer that wasn't less than $100/hr and it doesn't shock me to hear rates as high as $130 (example, $630 parts and labor to replace an X5 driver side window regulator :rolleyes part cost me around 85 and it took 2 hrs tops. I'm still trying to figure out the math). hozehead4 01-07-2005, 11:07 AM *cough* *cough* parked thread *cough* Area Mechanics and Dealers (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=171993) I've had nothing but good experiences going to Martin Motorsports in Alexandria. Thanks...yeah I checked the parked info but only saw stuff for Maryland, or not very close to Reston. $80-85 an hour isn't too bad, I think my mechanic in PA was $75. I just hate dealing with service managers at the dealers that are always trying to sell you extra crap. Foreign Service in Tysons - 703.448.4800 I started going there in 1996 and I have ALWAYS had good service and good prices. They actually care about making the customer happy. I just moved from Reston to Miami and I dread having to find another place. Tchaka |
