Kidding, $10 says this doesn't stay your 'daily driver' for long...;)

I'll take that bet Chris!!!

No, my wife still has the C5 and her Subaru and just bought a Ninja too. :confused

I now have my M3 autox and weekend fun car, and a nice 325 daily driver that once I get the suspension and stuff fixed to where I like it, I'll be able to track it. :)

dude, your wife bought a Ninja??? I want one! It would be so badass to have one of them go kill people I didn't like, to have one as my body guard...sweetness

"Ninja vanish!"

Yeah, I was over at Doby's house last night and went for a ride in it. That thing pulled really well-it was bone stock with the exception of a chip.

Interior is in really good condition too-nearly new. It's in better condition than cars with less years on it. I'll be working on the paint to get it to be as nice as the interior.

The chip was not installed last night. :D And want to work on the paint Saturday?

Saturday, I'll be throwing the chip in and putting on an extra intake that I have as well as swapping my headlights (HID's) and maybe stock M3 steering wheel over and replacing the rear brakes :)

Oh, and Brant came up with a great nickname for it since it's red and doesn't have a clear coat....

drum roll please.....

Really? Damn. Nice! Seriously, I thought that car pulled really damn well!

Yeah man, that sounds good working on the paint on Sat.

Ah yes, but I'm not going to do anything like modding to the car. Maybe when I get the new shocks for the M3, I'll throw my Koni's on the 325, but I'm not spending any money on the car that isn't needed.

If it get's balled up at the track I'd care, but not like loosing the M3.

Why don't you just buy a 325 and a 3.0L motor and we'll install it in my garage? Let's see, a decent 325 (Vanos car) will be $6-7k and used 3.0L will cost you around $3k? You are going to have to change the same parts on an M3 as you would a 325, as in suspension, brakes, etc.

You need RTABs and shimzzz?

sunir
01-05-2005, 02:35 PM
congrats Doby :) glad to hear you'll be tracking the 325, truth is I think you'll enjoy DE's and get hooked ;) ...just my hypothesis...

....and....when that does happen, you have an ideal car to make into an ITS car...good pick on the 325!

oh and by the way, please be sure to stay outta Jeddy's way at the DE's, he's the '04 champ and looking to defend his title in '05 hahaha lol :D ;) :stickoutt

Nah, it's a non-vanos, so I don't know if it would be a good ITS car, but I doubt I'd go that way anyway... although it can rev to 7500 with little trouble. :D

Jed

Oh yeah the cars aren't exactly identical in terms of being red. The one Doby's talking about is Brilliantrot and mine's Hellrot (clearcoat and slightly different shade of red).

vjlax18

Clearcoat is over rated! I'm going to let the paint go to shyt and turn pink, then install an S54 in it. ;)

Doby:

Let me know if you want to borrow the RTAB tool. I'm "renting" one from Bimmerworld, but if it doesn't suck I'm gonna keep it.

Nick -

What type of RTAB's did you go with? Are you going stock rtab's with GC shims?

Did the tool make it much easier?

Also, I've emailed you about that other thing we were discussing. :) You know I'm down for the GB on the polo shirt/khaki mechanic's combo!!! ;) :stickoutt

FYI -- NASA HPDE2 and HPDE3 is now accepting registrations for the forthcoming year. You have to join NASA for $40.00. If I am reading it correctly, HPDE3 allows passing anywhere on the track. Perhaps I misread that. HPDE1 is pointbys on the straight. HPDE2 is pointbys as well --but, maybe anywhere on track?

I read it quickly -- I could be wrong.

Jesse -- going to do any of the NASA events? I've heard their events are as close to W2W you can get without having a provisional comp. license.

Once you get to HPDE4, it sounds like you are trying out for your comp. license at that point.

I missed your post. Yeah, they are getting into that range. ;)

And Sunir, don't worry, I'm not trying to beat Jed on the track... I'll just beat him on the parking lot. ;) He's co-driving my car this year for SCCA Autoxes. :)
