.....a local thread for the Dallas area. Sweet!
A question for the loc's......I've been doing some homework on a local BMW mechanic and had my boss and a neighbor both recommend Krause's Automotive in Lewisville. Anyone have expecience with this shop? I've heard he's good.
Picked up my fist bimmer in July and getting the itch to do some small mods as well as Inspection 2.
TIA. Hope to see you on the road.

never used them. Sorry
Inspection 2 is easy not worth the $800 or so a shop will charge. Its really just a tune up

Inspection 2 is not worth the money at all. Get some better fluids and changet them out yourself or pay a shop to do just the transmission and differential fluid. The rest is easy.
checkout http://www.unofficialbmw.com/main.html for a checklist of everything that consists of an inspection 2. Not much to it.

Np. I used redline fluids for my diff and transmission. The Tranny felt much smoother after the fluid change. Checkout http://www.247-parts.com/leyline/redline_oil_index.shtml for good prices on redline. Alot of people like amsoil as well. You could also just use mobile 1 as well.

I third (or fourth?) the recommendation on DIY'ing the Inspection II...
That said, if there's anything that you need done that you can't handle yourself, I highly recommend Nine Eleven Enterprises located in Dallas, in the area of 35E and Royal Lane. Their web-site is www.nine-eleven.com and their owner, Barry, owns an E36 M3. They specialize in BMW, Porsche and Mercedes, and their mechanics are all friendly and very knowledgeable. They also support the local BMW car club, so that's a great incentive to utilize their service.
If you do drop by the shop, tell Barry that Nobu sent ya!
Congrats on your first Bimmer! Looks like you picked a winner.

Krause is also a Car Club member, and seems to be helpful with members questions. So the only info I have is that he responds to email.

Thanks Snk and Spanky....I knew I could count on you guys for some feedback. I'd like to try Krause's first considering the recommendations I have thus far. However, if I feel concerned I'll talk to Barry at Nine-Eleven. I'll check out the URL and poke around.
Spank, do you have Krause's e-mail? I don't have a PM but could you e-mail me or post it here? Thanks, buddy.
