So i have owned a few fast cars in my life such as a 1997 gsx eclipse and a 1997 nissan 200sx se-r on nitrous and all the goodies for both rides. they ran 13.7 and 13.12 respectivly in the 1320 with slicks on but now onto my current 1990 525 auto :( which i chose because i wrote a check for it and liability insurance with the added bonus of little urge to mod the engine ( until it goes out and i get to replace it :evil2 she only has 111,000 miles though)

so my buddy ownes a 1999 civic si and we decided to give it a run from 60 mph... we honked 3 times and we took off and to my complete suprise i start to pull on him :buttrock and by 110 i was a good 3-4 cars in the lead . when we stopped he said everything went well he was in 3rd gear at about 4500 rpm he said when we started soooo..... a win for me!!! :alright

o yea me stock and he has an aem intake ( short lists i know)

yay for slushbox 525i's. Yeah most civics aren't too much trouble...it's just any other car with a decent motor :D

yea i totally realize my car is slow and would take most civics but this was the "almighty b16a dohc vtec 1.6 liter"..... made me smile :confused

ya know " dude my car has an Si motor, its fast" those kinda peeps

that indeed is a weird story.

i'd imagine that he'd have owned you. perhaps he didn't know how to shift

umm i would guess it is the torque because going about 70-80 or so is where i just walked on him so with 111 ft/lb of torque you cannot expect much go... its no BS and he said that he shifted right and everything-

Hey KarlSpackler. Nice car. But no offense, something isn't right. I have a 96 328i auto that is pretty fast on the highway (beat a modified and stock GSR once) but I raced my friend's Civic SI and here were the results. We were even from 60-95 but once I hit about 100 I easily pulled on him, and I had about 2 car lengths on him.

I'm not sure how your 525 beat him that badly. Not trying to be rude but I just think either he doesn't know how to shift or maybe his engine is messed up.

I had a 96 auto 328i with an ecis intake and pulled 1 1/2 carlenghts on a civic si with an exhaust( maybe more but thats all i could see). The run was from @ 60 to 95 mph. I know my auto 328 wasn't very fast but it took out an si ha

so you can stomp on modded gsr's but cannot handle an Si???? Dude you make no sense and there was no shifting when we started and that is when i pulled on him and i just kept on pulling

I didn't say the GSR was easy to beat. In fact the SI was easier to beat but I did pull on both. The modded GSR did have low compression however, but I raced a stock GSR once and I pulled on him.

You can stick to your story I'm only pointing out that there might be something up with your friends car. Maybe he had low compression?

I agree you can you can pull on a modded GSR nonetheless but not murder a stock si?? You were racing in the second one right when you raced the si with your 328???

Sorry I meant to rephrase and add the word murder.

I beat both but the SI was easier to beat than the GSR.

Ok, look at peak horsepower, 7600 rpm. I bet that thing starts redlining BEFORE it hits peak horsepower.

Don't forget the Bimmer is a highway cruiser ;)

328 is man

it sounds like a close call but weight isnt as much of a factor on the highway. I believe it.

good job man way to show of your highway cruiser...

thanks bro... the guy with the 328i... you should not only beat the Si "easier" but you should demolish it. the usdm gsr is a monster when compared to the si, stock lsd, 1.8l dohc vtec with 175 hp. the gsr is just an overall better car. if a stock Si raced a stock gsr... i would give the gsr probably 4-5 cars

but non the less.. i still beat the Si :redspot

The GSR wouldn't beat an Si by 4 cars, I'd say 1 car if the drivers were equal. However, to whoever claims that they beat a modded GSR and that the civic gave them a tougher race, either the civic was more heavily modded than the GSR or you did something wrong. Example: I owned an Integra LS AUTO and I used to race a kids Si and he wasn't beating me too badly. By the way, an LS has over 20 less hp than the Si and it is a heavier car. GSR's have 178hp stock. ;)

well when i owend my se-r with only an intake i could edge out an si by about 3/4 cars but i couldnt touch my friend in his gsr... and they were almost stock. infact the one i raced in my se-r was the same one mentioned in this race.... he has a habit of losing to me.

GSRs have 170 hp stock in the US.

They are slightly faster than Si's, which have 160 hp. I used to own a 1996 GSR.

My last car before my current 325 was a 1990 525 slushbox. If you keep it in the gears til redline they pull pretty well, compared to torqueless hondas. I dont doubt this story at all. good kill.

thanks alot bro, but i believe the gsr is geared lower making it faster from the line.... not totally sure but there has gotta be someother reason for the gsr being faster than the Si other than 10 hp and 15 lb torque

any honda geeks out there?

I could barely outrun my friends '97 Pathfinder on an uphill stretch of highway, so props to you for beating a car that actually makes sense to race.

Stock GSR is decent at 0-60mph in 7.2 secs or 7 flat. Watch out for the modded ones. Usually with around $1K-$2K in mods and the GSR can touch mid to low 6sec territory.

how does a car w/ 110torque @ 7000rpm do a 0-60 run in 7,1 secs? :confused

I mean my car's peak torque (135) comes ~ 4200rpm and my 0-60 run is mid 8's

are they that much lighter? :confused

actually your car has 130 hp compare to a civic si's 160 hp.......30 hp difference will make a car a lot faster especially when it's light like a civic and it doesn't take that much torque to pull all it's weight..... + it has better gearing down low...........that would make a good recipe for a good bottom end power.....
