I was out at the drag strip trying to quantify my latest mod (it's cheaper than dyno time), and I was wondering, how do these numbers measure up? Anybody else try straight-lining their bimmer?

Oh yeah, and no comments about my reaction time - I had a ton of wheel hop on this run.

By the way, this run was on street tires (Yoko AVS sports) on a warm Phoenix night.

You have wheel hop at speed world? I have no problems with my launches at S.W. I launch @ 1500rpm and run in the 13's and trap at 104. I trap a little lower down @ firebird though.

Kermit, those are great times! Your 60' was pretty damn good for street tires. I'm a straight line guy, myself... :) My best times are in my sig...

One comment, though, that dude in the C5 should be ashamed of himself... :nono

Dude in the C5 said - "it's my dad's car and I'm still learning to drive it". I had to look over my shoulder half-way down the track to make sure that it WAS a Corvette in the other lane.

As for the wheel hop, I think I launched between 1700 and 2300 RPM. I was experimenting with a bunch of new stuff:
It was my first time out on those tires. It was the day after I put my Euro HFM/CAI/Conforti chip in (the one I am selling on eBay). Oh yeah, and I just put a new OEM clutch in the car a few weeks ago (she was due - 95k miles).

You can check out my auction here:
Hate to see her go, but need the cash... (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/ebayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1824415072&r=0&t=0)

I’ve been a couple times down here at the Baytown Motor Speedway right outside Houston. My best time is 14.1 in my 328i.

I haven't been to the track yet this year, but I have a time slip from last season where I ran a 14.3 stock.... I didn't think that was to bad....

I have never run the 1/4 mile. Last week at the 1.8th, I put down 2.095 60' time, but missed third gear. (I need a Shortshifter) I ran a 9.416, but that was coasting across the 1/8th after missing third. :emo Could have been my best run, and should have. That was no Nitrous! I will have some 1/4 mile pulls coming up in the next few weeks w/ and w/o Nitrous. :buttrock

I ran twice at a 1/8 track just for shits and giggles, I did no prep, did not remove my spare or jack and stuff like that. It was 80 degrees with 100 % humidity (totally sucked). My best run out of the two was a 9.3xxx at 75.xxx mph. My launch was not the greatest either. I wish there was a 1/4 track around because I did not know what the 1/8 related to, but I guess it would be in the low 14's. :dunno

btw, my 60ft was 2.1xx

I dunno, that time seems par for the course with a LOT of C5 drivers around here. :az:

I like SpeedWorld a little better than Firebird, but that's probably because I ran my first twelve at SW and it was my first time there (second time at the track).

How often do you local guys get out to Firebird?

I ran first time ever last night @ Cecil County, MD (due to the urging of a co-worker who runs a Mustang Cobra)
I was sort of conservative on the launch and it showed:
1st RT:1.201, 60':2.278, 1/4 14.162 @ 98.96
2nd RT: .762, 60':2.406, 1/4 14.342 @ 100.12

Stock 00 M (Supersprint exhaust) & new Toyo T1-S
I guess I didn't humilate myself and it was BIG FUN.

First run was with a Neon ...was way back.
Second run was with a Civic with a NOS setup and he beat my by a car length @ the trap.. but I stayed on it until I hit 130 just for the grins. His bottle wasn't big enough for the second half mile....

Just FYI - here is some feedback from my trip to the track:

12/15/2001 - Texas Motorplex - Ennis, Texas
3380 lbs (with me)
52deg
71% humidity
1/2 tank gas (93 octane)
Mich Pilot Sport

I only got to make one run (it rained later), this is the 1st time I had ever taken the car to the track. Only mod was ECIS intake.

'99 M3
60' = 2.130
330 = 5.953
1/8 = 9.101
MPH = 78.63
1000 = 11.810
1/4 = 14.113
MPH = 99.10

How are you pulling 14.1's in your 328? Let us know your mods / driving tips!

Thx!
