Im looking to go FI on my 99 M3 this summer and im wondering what kits you guys have and engine management you're using. I would prefer to go turbo and im wondering if its hard finding a good engine management with this altitude. Also, is there anyone that pieced together their own turbo kit. Im thinking about going this route bc it would be cheaper but i still need some good software to run it. Any info would help.

Thanks
Dave

It's definately NOT cheaper to peice together a turbo kit. It might seem that way, but by the time you're done, I can almost guarantee that you've spent more than if you just bought a kit, and you'll have no vendor support if there's a problem.

There's really only two choices for a turbo kit, Active Autowerke and Technique Tuning. Both use the factory ECU and chip tune it very successfully.

I have the AA supercharger on my car and I really like it. No problems with it...

You can eather get some cheep engine management like a chip that AA makes or a full standalone. If you are going to piece together the kit I would recomend a standalone management system. Puting together a turbo system part by part can be very cost effective. Personally I would never spend $10k for a turbo set-up. How far do you want to take this? Do you want to build the motor with new pistons etc?

How much and what comes with it?

almost a complete stage 2 kit! To make it comeplete you will need #24lb/hour injectors, Dinan programing which you will need to program to your car anyways. And there are a couple of small 6 inch hoses that will need to be reconfigured. Thats about it. It is almost brand new, it has about 3700 miles on it. Someone from TX offered me $2800, but I will work with you local people on a price sense I don't want to mess with shipping! Let me know

I already added it up! Injectors will run you around $113. The softwars is $90 and the hose is $8. Let me know if you want it ASAP or I will sell it to the out of state buyer!

Software is only $90?! That seems awful cheap for software.

Software is going to be closer to $500 for quality software. OBD2 flashes could be more.

FYI, a Dinan Stage 2 is simply just the addition of the Dinan exhaust onto a Dinan s/c'd car.
