1 whole week at Tail of the Dragon in spring. I would like to plan and gather people where we can get hotels and other things at discounted rate so we all can head down to the Dragon's tail.
For all of you that dont know what it is, The Tail of the Dragon, also known as Deals Gap or just the Dragon, is considered by many as one of the world's best motorcycling and sports car roads. Anyone looking for an exciting piece of asphalt will enjoy this stretch of US 129 at the Tennessee/North Carolina state line.
The Dragon, as many have found, is truly a unique road. In 14 miles there are only two intersections; NC28 to Fontana Dam and the lightly traveled gravel road at Parsons Branch. There are no buildings other than the Crossroads of Time. There are 318 curves in the 11 miles located on the Tennessee side. Most of the time there is very little traffic and the vehicles that do use this road are primarily motorcycle riders and sports car drivers looking for the thrill of their lives.
The Porsche club of America in 04' just did a trip down there and if possible i would the the BMW club go for a drive. Date is not set i would just like to see who is up for it. Approx. date would be Mar 14 to Mar 21
www.tailofthedragon.com is the website
There is many history on the trail other then the drive and i was thinking of splitting into 3 groups when we get to the tail. Insane, med, cruise so no one would feel left out or uneasy. People who live down south or out west can meet up with us on the way.
For Details please email me at Eurowerkz@aol.com
More info would be updated
All are welcome thanx
