Around 10pm I was headed 75 south bound in the slow lane at a comfortable pace, :) but way over the posted speed limit when all of a sudden the passport goes off, I immediately hit the brakes to slow down when I see, you guessed it, Henry county's finest hidden besides the divaduct. A couple minutes later the patrol vehicle was next to me. I thought I was toast, but I was able to maintain the posted speed limit. I'm sure he was wondering how I saw him since he was well hidden; I must say without the 8500 he would have gotten me for sure. Once again Kudos to passport. I know many people swear by V1, but I must say the 8500 has yet to let me down. :buttrock

Im with ya. I have one in all my vehicles. We were coming back down south from the Mall of GA Tuesday and got zapped by the laser from a gwinnett co police.. was able to slow down enough I guess before he hit me directly ( was laser)... I prefer to stay on the southside if I can, I am yet to be hit by a laser south of Atlanta, majority are K or Ka... On another note, my wife was on 285 on her way to Tucker and said she got hit by X band--she actually saw two cops clocking people.. I didnt know X still existed....


Oh and this is my first bmw, and this car is easy as hell to speed in..So smooth.

I have one in my car and I let my dad borrow it when he went to South GA.. Needless to say he gave me a $400 check and said to buy myself another one. In a family of 3 cars we have 3 of them and I have never been let down!

As for its ability on Laser! I think its pushing the limits of physics! Mine can pick up radar before I can even see the cop! Gives you plenty of slow down time!

My 8500 let me down on 75 south near Forsyth...got stopped doing 99 in my last car (2002 S2000). Detector never went off (and it was radar, not laser). I have since switched to the V1 and it hasn't let me down.

I still use the 8500 when I travel and have to rent a car, but I don't trust it.

anyways, ooh! and i think the escort x50 is a laser too, bc/ i was on cobb pkwy the other week.. and all the sudden.. it went to " LASER " and started making this horrible shriek. i was scared as crap... but yea. so i think the laster parts there, just to let u know. ^ ^

If you crossed at the intersection of Cobb Parkway and Windy Hill they have a camera setup on top of the light setup to catch people who run red lights so anyone with a Laser radar detector will goes off on them.
