I was driving down by the stalk yards in FtW today and i spotted from a glance what looked like an early 80s late 70s M5. Looked clean and in good shape for the age. Im going back tomarrow for details and to get a closer look. I got the number if anyone is interested...Ill kepp you all posted. I forget the name of the road the dealership was on but i know its the main road comming from the old court house to the stalk yards..cross a bridge down a hill yada yada..and its on the east side of the road about 4 blocks down. Kinda hidden. It would be a fun project car to keep in the garage. Just thought i would let you guys know about it cause i thought i was a cool lil car.

There were never late 70's-early 80's M5's. The original M5 arrived in 1985.

M3's debuted in 86 in europe, then 88 over here.
The 8 series was a horrible car, too slow, bad handling, too expensive.
E28 M5's are amazing cars, and seem to be a good value right now.

Having driven an 850, i can tell you its not like a ferrari v12. Its meant for cruising, its a GT car, but not a fast one. Its a nice car, but was too heavy, under powered, and too expensive for its time. The 850csi is the only model to consider.

Everything I've read about the 8's definately do not suggest its slow, especially the 850i. Nearly everywhere suggests it pulls like a freight train. However they were prone to lots and bad electrical failures if they were early 90's ones.
