View Full Version : Anna and Global Imports

I had Anna's car for the day as I'm getting her wheels painted black as part of her Christmas from me, and Anna was driving the M3 yesterday.

After work, Anna stopped by Global to pick up some coolant for me as my resevoir was a little low, and pulled in with my brakes grinding something fierce. One of the techs came out, heard the noise and inspected the car.

He couldn't tell right off hand exactly what the problem was, so he pulled the car into the bay so their Master Tech could take a look at it. Not only did the Master Tech look at the car, but he put it up on the lift and looked at the car from underneath. Keep in mind this is all occuring at normal business hours at the largest BMW dealer in the Southeast!

So, after determining that my brakes needed replacement, he topped off the coolant and sent Anna on her way after a $15 tip. I wonder if I, as a member of the more unattractive sex, would have gotten the same treatment! :D

Anna then drove to Butler Tire and we inspected the brakes to find that they were still above spec (albeit very low), but that the dust shield had somehow bent into the left front rotor and was scraping on the rotor, making the gawdawful grinding noise she heard.

So, hats off to Global (did I just say that?) for looking after my girlfriend and my M3 yesterday! I guess those guys aren't so bad after all! :clap

You're cute, but not that cute. :D Honestly, my vote would be no...my wife has had favored situations in the past whereas I would have gotten reamed. Pretty girls almost always get good "treatment" like that, and that Anna is a very outgoing girl with a good personality only helps her odds.

Girls can definitely use a flirty/outgoing nature to get good service ---My parts guy at Brian Harris BMW is always giving me free stuff and is always very helpful and willing to put extra effort into finding obscure parts for me.

Unfortunately 'the skirt factor' can go the other way too ---i've been told numerous times to basically 'not worry my pretty little head about that' when it comes to car repairs.

Of course now I go only to the places that let me hang out in the repair bay!

I would be a little frightened if Georgie actually had a mechanic take that much interest in him . . .

They are a light silver with red anodized lug covers (or whatever the proper term is)--I have a 'new wheels' thread in the E36 forum with unchopped pics.

The sig pic is a big 'ol photochop with about ten layers. I like the lighting in the original pic and thought it brought out the paint colour really nicely.

I'm not in love with the wheels but it was what I could afford (barely) for right now. I went through my last set of tires in less than 4 months --so I basically needed a second set of wheels so I could have one for the track.

These will be relegated to track use eventually when I can afford some nicer ones. For now though I like them just fine. ;)

They're silver.

The pic just makes them look white. It's actually a good-looking wheel, IMO.

Thats all that matters. :alright

You need to come down to the dyno day so that we can finally get that race in ;)

yeah, I think the picture is just washed out, it also makes the car look estoril.

Don't count on it.

This story makes me wonder where exactly these brilliant, perceptive, and readily-available "mystery mechanics" at Global have been hiding when we've been there. :rolleyes

Last time my car was at Global, they kept it for a week, could neither find, identify, nor remedy the problem that two service techs had agreed existed. And just for good measure, returned my car to me with greasy smudges all over the interior, and an inch-long gouge on my rear fender. :shifty

Oh, but they still wanted a "5" on their review.

Oh, but they still wanted a "5" on their review.

Well did you give them a "5" when BMWNA called? I gave Global a "1" when I went there for service around 2000-2001. A manager called me asking why I gave them a low ranking. As soon as he started bitching I just hung up in his face.

Well did you give them a "5" when BMWNA called?
Not just no, but hell no. I told them they had a lot of nerve to ask for a perfect rating when they couldn't even fix the problem, never mind giving my car back to me mis-handled. The service manager never called me, I suspect because I had already told him what I thought of their (alleged) "work."

And while I'm on it, their alleged "valets" need to learn that doors are to be opened and closed with the handles, not the window glass. :mad

Oh yes...we will race!
