View Full Version : What to do when the anodised metal is cloudy, my solution!

Yep, mine has some very large bumpers.

The shine became cloudy and the only solution I knew about, replacement, was not possible.

The shine is not a polish, it is an anodised coating. The issue is the surface treatment.

BMP in the USA sells a liquid treatment that combines with the original treatment and gives a renewed shine.

Not perfect, but I have had friends ask how much the new bumper cost.

It can be used on all the shined window trim and even the dual grills.

My grills were also sand pitted so it was not as good on them.

My time with beer breaks and step back to admire times, was a little over 2 hours on the grills and the rear bumper.

Staging the photo shoot was the next day.

Now for the best part.

Aluminum Trim Refinish Kit

Finally, a product to refinish old and clouded aluminum trim molding and bumpers. Nothing looks worse on a newly-painted car than the unsightly trim moulding that have been clouded from harsh soaps and weather. Prior to this product, the only choices for refinishing would be, (1) remove and replace all the trim pieces with new components at some astronomical price, or (2) remove all the trim pieces and have an aluminum plating shop re-anodize each component. Now with the BMP design aluminum treatment kit, you can refinish all the aluminum trim on your car without worry. You simply clean the piece with the cleaning solution, wet-sand the molding with 2000 grit wet sand paper then apply the stripping solution, and finish with the special waterbased coating solution. Kit includes cleaner, stripper, coating solution and instructional video.

Bringing this back from the dead. Did a search on cleaning aluminum trim and found this post, but the image is no longer posted. Would love to see the finished photo... if you still have it.

Just as an FYI, KC Ron isn't well thought of on most of the E24 boards...Personally, I would never, ever buy anything from him.
