Has anyone here ever installed one of these themselves? I have an '05 X3 and am considering a rear entertainment system. I am leaning more towards the BMW one since I want maximum compatibility with the stock radio system and have no desire to use an aftermarket head unit, FM modulators, etc. I also want as easy an install as possible since I would rather do it myself.

I saw a unit for the X3 on eBay. It stated that the install time should be approx 2hrs for a trained BMW tech. That leads me to believe that a lot of the wires are already run and minimal parts of the interior need to be removed for the install, similar to the car alarm system install (since we all know BMW techs don't have the same skill level as professional car audio installers).

I know the X3 is pre-wired for the 6 disc CD player and that the DVD player gets installed in the same location as the 6 disk CD player (in the center arm console). Does this mean the same wires are used for the DVD system? Can anyone confirm how easy (or difficult) the install is? Thanks in advance!
